Bump. Wanted to give this a shot over the weekend but got too busy.

I wadded up like eight pages of drawings yesterday, lol. I'm pretty good at painting, and I can usually draw alright, but I've never been great at anime drawing for some reason. I need the practice though, because I want to do a graphic novel or something.
This is the best I got but most likely I'll throw this one away and start over again.

That's honestly not too bad, man. There are things you can improve on, yeah, but I feel like you're on the right track. The way you did her hair is very neat looking too.

I always open these topics thinking I might try it, all I did was draw from age 5 to 18, and just dropped it entirely and haven't tried since. Then I get to looking through all this amazing stuff and i'm back in the "nah i'm good" column lol.

Legit some phenomenal art here, thanks for sharing those of you who did. I love looking through this stuff.

Come on, you should do it! I'm at least interested to see what your drawing style looks like. And who knows. Maybe it might get you back into the habit.

pls draw? its not about comparing yourself to others. there will always be someone better
but if ten people like their drawing more and one person likes your drawing more, draw for that one person!
thats what i try to think whenever i draw. there are thousands and thousands of people i think are way better than me and that's okay, i still love to draw and i want to draw for the person who will love my drawing =)

Made the face a tiny bit smaller, made the left arm a little larger, scanned it and did a little shading so it has a weird mix of computer and pencil shading. It's not quite perfect but I think it looks decent

For something done in 15 minutes, I like the adorable, simple style going on here.

@United_World what's your preferred color scheme with this one (since the OP is b/w)? I should be fine on hair and skin tone, but could use some suggestions on the outfit, particularly color of her jacket (both main color and pads / trim) and headphones. Is the little coin / pendant on her choker gold, silver / steel, or some other color? Lipstick or no (and if so, what color lipstick?). Also, if you have a preferred real-life reference image for the style of headphones, feel free to either post here or pm me (no worries if you don't, otherwise I'll just use whatever google gives me, lol).

I know it might seem more polite for you to avoid being picky, but I tend to waste a lot of time obsessing over little details (color choice especially), so trust me, the pickier you are beforehand, the better :-)

@masterpug53 I didn't have a color scheme in mind but to be honest, I really like the color scheme @Hambo came up with. I'd say a Military Green color, with a darker shade of green and a bit of brown for the pads and dark green for the pockets. Steel for the pendant. Black lipstick is fine. Whit t-shirt, the shorts are denim blue and the socks are dark greyish/black. I see the headphones as something like this

I like how yours turned out! I think the size of the feet / shoes can work if you make the hands bigger to match. I don't have a lot of experience drawing disproportional characters (I swear I'm not being backhanded by saying that lol, I've always loved that kind of style but it was never something I gravitated towards drawing in my own style), but the first character that comes to mind that might work as a good reference is Kairi from Kingdom Hearts.

Thanks very much! I guess I'd better post a lineart-only version whenever I get that done, if you think the sketch lines are that clean, heh. I guess it's just the result of lots and lots of practice, took me years to get good enough with the tablet to do clean freehand lineart. And even then I work and overwork it. I rarely get it right the first time and rely on the eraser just as much as the brush tool (The same is also true of my coloring, which is how I get nice, blended tones).

But sometimes I'll still fall back on the Pen tool for perfectly-smooth lines, particularly when drawing breasts (I learned from a young age that if you draw a character with breasts, that's the first place the viewer's eye is going; so you'd better get them as perfect as possible).

I really like this! Great pose, especially with the legs and feet. Not really a criticism so much as personal taste, but I'd be interested in seeing a version with the tones on the jacket and shorts being a little more faded.

I definitely could have gone for a shade of green on the jacket that's a little less bright. I spent a long time even trying to choose the base color for it. I know I had a pretty rough time on the shorts. I was never good at doing denim, but dangit, I tried to the best of my ability here, ha. Color is one of those things that I do by ear. I really should take the time to watch videos on it and actually get a grasp on what I'm doing.
