I've been wondering what out history books will say about Pence. After all of this stuff has blown over and more people realize what January 6 actually was instead of putting their head in the sand, what will the consensus be about him?

Is he a hero for doing what was right while facing IMMENSE pressure to do what was wrong? What about the fact he went along with all of Trumps BS up until that point? The man IS an evangelical and doesn't support gay marriage or other things like that. Does this one thing make up for all of that?

Or is he a villain? Do people not look past all the bad for that one moment where he did what was right? After all, it was his job and all he did was his job. What about him (or others around him) saying he didn't want to leave because if he left they never would have gotten the election process done. That the secret service wanted to put him in the car to drive him away so he wouldn't be able to do his job?

Or, plot twist: He's a villain because 50 years from now we find records that everything the Trumpers said was right and all of America was wrong? (This won't happen.)

It's complex. Just something I've been thinking about for a little while.

Of course there were tons of other people involved in all of this. I use Pence because I believe he will be seen as a central character and a point where if he did things differently our country would be DRASTICALLY different.

The GOP and their ilk are all villains. Some of them just have a tiny, tiny shred of dignity and humanity. I'd say people like MTG and Ted Cruz are more Palpatine levels of villainy, while people like Pence are more Count Dooku or Vader.

He is still a self serving feckless coward that he was for the first whatever odd years of his life. The funny thing is he thinks he will get into heaven or whatever due to his actions.

The only good thing he did was, again self serving, which is to say he didnt trust the secret service to drive him away on Jan 6th. But a broken clock is right twice a day. He did the bare minimum and should not be celebrated.

Honestly, I think he'll be forgotten.
