Because when lots of stupid people flock to it, the industry will identify the trend and willingly stoop to that level out of greed. Like pay to win phone games. Or half-assed cinematic one-and-dones designed to coast by on praise from journalists. Cosmetic dlc, lootboxes, nonfunctional early access scams that later rake in undeserved praise for eventually beginning to tape the game back together, season passes.
