It's because those high 90s/100s you see in the midwest end up there in the northeast based on weather patterns. You can actually kind of see it in the map.

It has been raining for like 2 days in Atlanta, kept the temps low. Was about 75 today even around 2pm. Been around 98 for a week straight before this nice little spell though.

Its similar to roughly a year ago when the Pacific Northwest got brutalized by a once-in-a-thousand year heat wave. That area of the US & Canada tends to have moderate temps, so I believe only like 20-30% of the people have A/C. Except the heat was much worse in the Pacific NW British Columbia had temps as high as 121F/49.6C.

I remember the 2006 one.

People said Dubya had something to do with it or cause it.

You live in SF? How long have you lived there?

I never lived in SF, but I lived a little inland less than an hour away. It was always a cool experience. SF would always have colder weather, but drive a tiny bit out of the Bay Area, and the temperature would increase very quickly.

25 years in SF. 1 year in SJ. You live in Castro Valley or Livermore?

Tracy, which was just over the Alta Mont from Livermore (that hilly region with a bunch of windmills). I lived in Tracy nearly 18 years, then Sacramento for nearly 10 more. I no longer live in California, but the Tracy and Sacramento area has a special place to me. Its home no matter how far I go.

So does the Bay Area. It also has a very special place to me.

Meanwhile, in the plains, we have a temperature range of -40 to 120. That may have happened in the same day once, somewhere in Missouri.

My $500 ac has been running full blast and its still only bringing my top-floor bedroom down to 80F from a super-humid 102F

80F is still too hot for me to comfortably sleep thinking about building a big blanket tent around my AC and bed and sacrifice the rest of the room, maybe that will work
