I played a little bit of it. It was decent but it didnt scratch that N64 collect-a-thon itch I was hoping for.

Was too short and the story lacking.

Very fun though

It was on sale on the PSN store which is why I was opting to get it. But was it really terrible like you say?

No, it's a good game, but you definitely want the PC version if you can get it.

Recommend Poi over Hat in Time? You be trippin balls? Hatty Timey is a bit rough around the edges but it's brilliant. Don't listen to these haters.

Poi isn't bad as such but it's store brand Mario 64. It's a restaurant called Food. It's not broken but it's very by the numbers and basic. Sure, get it if you crave more collectathon and don't mind one clearly for children but not over Hatty Timey sheesh

I don't have a PC but leaving that aside, I'm more curious why you suggested pc over a console for a platformer? Doesn't seem like playing with a mouse and keyboard is at all fun so just wondering, does it have extra stuff not included in the ps4 version?

What? Thats like the best part about it?

I dunno who complains about controls in a modern game where you can pretty much remap any button/key you want.

The camera was a primary focus they had when they made the game, pretty sure they said they made it a point to walk her through most of the level and have the camera auto adjust to where you most likely needed to be looking.

I dunno even what you mean by physics, there is isnt too much in the way of physics?

You couldnt POSSIBLY mean the glorious movement system where you can literally jump, double jump, dive, cancel dive into speed boosted jump or turn a wall collision into a wall jump.

If anything it was some of the levels that where lack luster but still even then most were a lot of fun.

Now, I haven't played A Hat in Time, but this sounds like some Super Mario Galaxy camera kinda shit. I want to control the camera, not vice versa.

Played it on ps4/5, loved it. I honestly like it more than Mario. But it's probably more so because Mario got boring to me overall by being the same thing with only minor changes. I just am not into that style of series. I like dramatic changes

Yooka-Laylee tried to do the 3D platformer revival as well, with mediocre results

Then they released a 2D sequel that was fantastic

3D platforming was a showcase of tech in the early 3D era, it has no place in modern gaming other than nostalgia. 2D platforming will always be fun.

I'll be honest, climbing that fucking tree in Subcon Forest (which only had some optional collectibles) was a nightmare. Literally took me like 2-3 hours to get it my first time and I was this close to legit ragequitting. That said, I was using kb+m, and eventually I was able to get all the Death Wish missions before they were nerfed so I think I was just really bad at the time.

Anyway, fantastic game. Way more replayable than Mario Odyssey imo even though SMO definitely has a lot more content and has better controls.

Same. I mean I'm sure some people hyped it up to insane expectations, and while the game wasn't flawless it was still quite fun and endearing. The length was my only complaint.

My only complaint about it is the lack of boss battles in the latter half of the game, especially with the DLC. And what's with Swish and his 3D Platformer hate boner in this topic?

That means you only beat the first world since the second half of world 2 is locked behind an item you get in world 3's 2nd level (an honestly dumb choice and is why I recommend doing world 3 first since the levels there are actually a bit easier than world 2.)

Mario Odyssey is part of that genre

while I haven't played Odyssey, I can say that I would disagree if the argument was made about Mario Galaxy games. They were way way more streamlined, and also some of the best games ever imo. It would be hard for me to truly call them traditional 3D platformers

Tbf, this topic is mostly people talking about how fun and great the game is. TC isn't really representing CE as much as everyone else atm. Since it's very one sided.
