If they ran this commercial for a decade straight, they'd all have central air and everyone would be fine right now.

Europeans are too busy making fun of Americans for having "paper houses" to deal with their own crippling housing problems. Everyone rents a closet with an AC unit the size of a small TV stand built inside of a 100 year old building and they all pretend they got a good deal.

Maybe Europe should pay Brazil and all these other countries to maintain their forests to make up for all the colonization.

Property, especially in the UK is not the same as it is in the US. In the bigger cities your essentially leasing for like 99 years (similar to NYC). People dont really own it like the US or even other countries (China being a weird exception too). Its what caused a huge problem in the 80s when Thatcher tried some shady shit to push her agenda.

I remember that commercial so much on 90s/2000s Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network though.

My friend, from the UK told me the following story about it -- basically he lost his house that way. A member of the the Royal Family arrived outside his own house, demanded to be let into the property and then said "We invoke the 4th Rule, this property is now ours".
My friend told me the Police could not do anything about it, except tell him that it was now Crown Estate, and by staying there he was now trespassing -- and he said he spent a week in jail because of this.

Holy shit. I knew it wasnt great but fuck thats beyond the pale. Kind puts in perspective why the founding fathers did things differently too, even though they had issues too. Cause I bet this was a lot more widespread back then when there was a lot more power in the monarchy.

Maybe a decade ago I was working at a big fortune 500 company and we had to do this stupid ice breaker of whats your favorite commercial. I mentioned this commercial. No one remembered it and everyone thought I was weird.

Aircon is standard in the warm countries I've visited (everyone in my ex's family had Aircon in Slovenia).

It's just not popular in places like the UK cus you'd normally use it like 2 days a year.
