Favorite place?

It's been forever. I've played the second one also forever ago. I wanted to play through the other games, so that includes a replay of the first two to try to make more sense of the story.

Speaking of that, the story is a lot more of a mess than I remembered, but the absurdity of this crossover has its charm of course. Sora bothers me less than I thought he would, Riku is a generic lame jerk for most part.

Why is it Squall doesn't want to be called Squall again. The game might have told me at some point, but it's still weird.

Traverse Town is good.

Wonderland is alright.

Deep Jungle is very annoying, you have to backtrack over and over and over, it's very repetitive. Also I lost to Clayton because he glitched inside the bushes where I couldn't hit him but he could shoot me just to top the worst level off.

Coliseum is just battling, which hasn't aged perfectly but is workable. Mostly the camera being wonky by today's standards, but that's fair.

Agrabah is good, the cave is a cool setting.

Monstro appearing is the most random s*** and that says a lot. Decent world.

I remembered Atlantica as the worst place, but it's not, it's alright for most part, I don't mind the controls and Under the Sea that plays in the background is a gem. Is it also in the second game and that's the terrible world I'm thinking of?

That's how far I am. Began not many days ago, so expecting to finish in the next couple of days. Then take a short break before starting the next one. I looked at the trophy list before beginning and that's not happening at all.

The first game probably has the least absurd story elements tbh, unless if you're just counting the absurdity of the crossovers in general.

Squall doesn't want to be called Squall because he disappointed everyone.

Atlantica was just a song and dance minigame level in KH2 so it's not fully playable.

he abandoned his name to signify his failure to save his home world, he lost his world and then he lost his name

also best world overall is Hollow Bastion, best Disney world is Agrabah

I think as a kid I might just have not cared much about if the story made any sense.

Oh right, well, good thing Yuffie calls him Squall constantly.

Then I'm just not as bothered by it as I remember to have been, that's great.

I am. I assume that means it was originally worse. I find it wonky when battling, it's fine otherwise.

The original game had L1 and R1 rotate the camera around Sora IIRC. Not sure if that's still the case in the HD version.

Judging by the poll, some good stuff to come!

Halloween Town done.

From an atmosphere point of view it might be the best, I also enjoy it when they get the heartless point to fit in with the stories, which is what Wonderland has going on for it too. Climbing is not very fun with how autotargeting works though and Oogie Boogie, while getting points for being unique, isn't that great as boss, it's a bit repetitive and you team can't dodge anything there, they're for all purposes useless.

Voted Olympus with the caveat that I'm judging the combat for its time.

Honestly the things I hate about KH3 is due to it being great in KH1. I really loved the idea of Sora being self inserted into disney stories. It was fun to see how that changed things.

Then in KH3 they were like. Uh, this is a random ass cave that is near where frozen takes place.

It was immensely disappointing

I haven't replayed KH1 in a long time.

I've replayed KH2 not too long ago. The limited reaction command run I did was pretty rough at times though. [In this run, reaction commands can only be used when absolutely necessary. If a hit from a boss is survivable without using the reaction command, then the reaction command can not be used. It's akin to taking an unblockable hit in a standard RPG, and you just have to deal with the damage dealt.]

For instance, the first boss in KH2, Twilight Thorn, can be defeated without reaction commands. The battle is difficult, since all attacks are being avoided manually, along with far more limited opportunities to land hits on it in the beginning. [Plus Roxas suffers damage right from the beginning, since the opening reaction command hits are survivable on Proud Mode.]

Pretty much, which is a shame since I do love the Disney-inspired worlds as a concept. I replayed the game a few years ago, and it stood out to me how the level design is straight up terrible most of the time. I enjoyed Agrabah and Halloween Town, but that's about it.

Perhaps I'll just do some of Cups and maybe the 100 Acre Woods.

I beat the first two Cups before losing to flying Cloud in the third one. Deciding to take a break from battling by doing the 100 Acre Wood stuff. Then I'll come back and try again.

As much as I usually like to 100% stuff, I think that's all I'm going to do before moving on to the rest of the game.

I did back on PS2! I just remember grinding for it and I don't think I care to do that, as cool as Sephiroth is. But maybe I just wasn't that great as a kid and needed to grind.

100 Acre Wood beaten. The mini-games are mostly low effort and bad but it's a very enjoyable world. Atmosphere wise it's among the best, of course, you're basically just playing Christopher in the universe, it has nothing to do with the Kingdom Hearts setting. Anyways, this Winnie the Pooh as a franchise is a personal favorite of mine and I'm glad I didn't decide to skip this.

Oh, I probably mix them together then.

I beat Cloud on my second attempt by just dodging his flying attacks enough for him to stop, then he never did it again. Guess I shouldn't have tried to hit him the first time. Despite being a 4th seed, Cloud is by far the hardest boss in the Hercules Cup, even Hercules himself isn't tough. Completing this cup makes me seal the keyhole here, nice.

Shipping grinding for superbosses in a game I've already beat them in probably is preferable, especially with a lot more games to go through.

Just collected the fragment pieces in Hollow Bastion. Beast might be the best temporary party member, Riku is really easy in the first fight. This probably is the best world, yeah.

I think the bosses in Herc world are worth it. Ice Giant is easy if you just block. Sephiroth is tough, but beating him feels GOOD. Also, you get the best Keyblade.

There's a handful of other optional bosses. I think they're worth a go. You don't have to grind out levels to get to where you can beat them, iirc. Natural leveling from playing the game should've been good enough, though you could wait until beating Hollow Bastion. Otherwise, just gotta git gud.
