All three remakes are great IMO.

REMake is arguably the gold standard for what a remake should be and the second is excellent (though very different than the original). Can't comment on the third.

REmake is probably one of the GOAT. I played 2 and 3 enough to platinum them, but I think they're a massive step back from the originals.

If you want to get into the series but have no interest in playing the older games, the remakes are absolutely a good place to start

REmake is still the golden standard along with Zero Mission. There is absolutely no reason why I would ever recommend anyone go back and play the original version (absolutely watch the cutscenes on YouTube tho, they are hilarious)

2 is pretty wild, in that I feel like both the OG and Remake are worth playing. Both of them are damn near perfect games. And before anyone says that's nostalgia talking, I played the OG version for the first time a year before the remake came out.

3....well, 3 is awkward. The remake is pretty much a completely different game. The two have almost zero similarities besides Jill and Nemesis. I argue that both versions of 3 are worth playing. They're both good, with the irony being that neither seem as good because they are compared to their respective version of 2; which are both in a completely different level.

I prefer OG REs dialogue. Classic. Legendary.

1 is the gold standard on how you do a remake. that said its design is still old school so it might be hit or miss if you can still get into it. what it does however it does exceptionally well and for the most part (like the overly cheesy dialog and real time cutscenes) negates the original.

2 is a very good modern interpretation of the original. not perfect, but probably as good as you can expect by todays standards which both stands on its own well while still paying proper respect to the original. you dont have to play the original, but it stil has its own aspects that 2 doesnt quite get right.

3 is...not great as a remake. as its own thing its still very good, but it takes a lot of liberties and cuts a lot of stuff from the original. if you dont mind the classic controls and style id actually recommend the OG 3 as well as the remake. imo 3 is a better game, but again the older design may or may not be your thing.

This can't be stated enough. Don't play the original, start with REMake, but if you want a good laugh, DO watch the original cutscenes, they're all over YouTube.
