That's gotta be fun to find out after all this time. I believe the mix and match parts is how they used to advertise "Over a million guns!" or whatever. I think the hardest I ever went with farming specific parts was for DPUH in Torgue's DLC and that Pearlescent Slag/Electric SMG from Assault on Dragon Keep.

It didn't even involve combat which made it piss easy and I still fucking hated it.

i don't know how much i care about UVHM yet. or grinding "perfect" weapons

Well, pistols are super easy... The UH is going to have a Torgue barrel, so the other part to get is the Torgue grip and the Double accessory.

But you can also learn the 'bad' parts in order to avoid them. E.g. Hyperion barrels on non-Hyperion weapons are not going to do you any favors. On the flipside, Hyperion barrels on Hyperion weapons have their own hidden bonus: they quickly max out the accuracy of the weapon while providing a tighter bullet grouping. Prior to a major buff patch for Hyperion pistols it wasn't worth considering them if they didn't have a matching barrel.

A bit of a tangent, but The Pre-Sequel further split Hyperion weapons by having 'New' Hyperion and 'Old' Hyperion variants. The newer ones matched their BL2 specs, while the older 'Tassiter' models were less accurate and had slower firing rates but could hit like a truck. They were fun weapons for Nisha since her aimbot accuracy-increasing power overrode their drawbacks.

Good luck... 3 has so many part variations that it's easier to go with the short hand of the name of the weapon.

In some cases it can drastically change performance. Maliwan is like that in BL3. If you take their shoguns as an example, the Shockwave produces a short ranged 'wub wub' energy wave, the Terminator is full auto(IIRC) and the last is the 'hold to overcharge' variant.

In other cases particular parts can be worth looking for. Atlas weapons have several variations of tracker mechanics. The grenade tags nearby enemies in a general sense, the puck is slow but IIRC it can reattach to nearby enemies when you kill one, while the darts are a quick shotgun blast that is easy to attach to crit spots on enemies.

Eww casuals. Lol I already knew this from the other topics and acknowledge people enjoy things differently but it's like the exact opposite of how I play games so still makes me go blech haha.

Go back and murder Doc Mercy. A lot.

The Infinity is overrated, and due to leveling it'll be useless on a first playthrough. It's an alright backup weapon on a Pistol-specced Zer0, but aside from that there are better options.

One thing you can do is influence the weighting of the ammo drop system. The game wants to drop ammo more often for types where you're under 40% or so of your total capacity. So the best option in combat is to avoid ammo pickups as you kill enemies, open several boxes WITHOUT touching the ammo, then finally sweep back around and pick up everything.

Do that and you'll often jump up from ~20% ammo remaining to ~80-90% ammo capacity. If you pick up the ammo as you go the game will get stingy again once you get above ~40%, so you'll get less of what you want that way.

ooooooo! Infinity will be more than a "ohshit" backup then, if you can get the stingy bastard to puke it up.

At his level the infinity will be useless in a matter of days.

TC, just play on and don't worry about farming gear until you get to max level.

Not true, some weapons are indeed worth getting early for their effectiveness. Such as farming Savage Lee for the Unkempt Harold.

Even the endboss is worth farming, for a Conference Call.

I really need to stop mag-dumping with Jakobs and aim for crits instead

Teddy spam keeps you in that magical window where the game gladly gives you ammo.

Maya is sick but you need a Krieg play through for the sheer insanity and a Salvador to feel what its like to be a god.
