There's a big difference between your AR-15 being overly effective against civilians and your AR-15 going up against literally anything else the US military has

You are a bellend, basically

In a person to person battle, an AR-15 would still be effective, even against soldiers with body armor.

Now, bring in tanks and other armored vehicles and, yeah, it ain't doing shit

There is some hope left.

If the results are clear enough and still overturned, it may rile enough feathers to discourage future attempts.

Bit doubtful but it's there.

level III body armor reliably (but not universally) defeats AR-15 rounds

the US military wears level IV body armor which is designed to reliably defeat armor piercing rounds from military-grade weapons and almost universally stops civilian-grade small arms fire

there's a reason most US soldier deaths in the middle east were to IEDs--bomb fragment shrapnel velocity is much higher than that of a rifle

It really does feel like kicking the can down the road. The Democrats will continue to maintain the "status quo" and the GOP will win in 2028, 2032, 2036, some day, even if they lose in 2024. The Democrats really do seem complicit, or at least entirely delusional.

In regards to the political climate, I think the GOP will turn in on itself. They've courted very unstable elements into the party and it could very well tear them apart, regardless of what judicial gains they make.

Even if they get the fascist regime they're gunning for, without pervasive strong leadership, it's as likely to tear itself apart when the leader dies as it is to be a strong presence.

Combine that with the ever increasing pressures on the American people (already) from a brutal fascist regime and its unlikely that it'd stick around for too long.

Not saying it wouldn't suck and that we should just let it happen, but it isn't all doom and gloom

Way I understand it, the medicines required to treat it are classified as abortion medicines because they're the same medicine used to induce abortions. So the act of treating an ectopic pregnancy isn't (technically an) abortion but the medicines required would be banned.

yes, the design of kevlar weave armor is such that you and your target exchange fire; if your target has training equivalent to your own, you each take a bullet. your target falls, dead or incapacitated. you deploy to base, exchange armor, and return. this is repeated across the battlefield by each soldier.

Hey conservatives, isn't it funny how your party consistently ends up gleefully doing the exact things us crazy leftists warn about and you say we're crazy or hysterical for predicting?

A drag queen story hour supplies enough outrage for you to call this a clown world and vote for these people, but the GOP votes to kill human beings and none of you have a word to say about it.

I'm forced to reach the conclusion that each and every one of you support this shit because I don't see any outraged topics from you threatening second amendment solutions like I see when you guys notice a trans person on your TV or a politician somewhere proposes a 0.001% tax increase to feed starving orphans.

The part is simply concentrated and weaponized grievance and self centeredness. They think there's a very specific type of American and lifestyle that knows best and should be able to determine what everyone else is allowed to do, on pain of death. Meanwhile, they can essentially do whatever they want.

The law exists to bind but not protect women, minorities, LGBT people, immigrants etc, and it exists to protect but not bind men, conservative Christians, white people, and capital.

It's not complacency to acknowledge that Canada (and a majority of its citizens) are liberal/ndp/independent.
And even the conservatives are outspoken against what the US is doing, while still being shitheads.

Canada will not ban or limit abortions in the next 10 years, and I would stake my life on that.

Where did this indentured servitude shit come from? Canada's minimum wage, time off, and work conditions laws leave the US in the dust.
