I grew up in Baton Rouge, so it would have probably been safer to join the army.

Then I also knew that a big portion of the job is stuff like directing traffic or serving eviction notices. Not for me.

I'm much happier at a lower paying, but easy going state job. Plus all the anti-cop sentiment these days. Nobody's gonna hate on you just for being another faceless drone in a state office compared to a LEO lol

I'm not the type for the "person in uniform" jobs. The fact that I look awful with short hair doesn't help either.

This is ignoring all the ugly tribalism involved in the police force. A friend I've known since before I can remember unfriended me when I said it was good that Chauvin was convicted. And I'm not the person who uses ACAB because I think it's as useless slogan that does nothing but make the far left feel good about themselves.
