before giving up if it fails to hold your interest?

I usually give a show 3-5 episodes. If it can't make a strong enough impression on me after five episodes, then it's probably just not for me.

This to an extent. A show's first episode supposed to grab you in the first half, then hold you down in the second half, then the next episode is supposed to seal the deal.

I usually give a show two episodes to interest me. I think that is enough time.

I dont think thats true. Pilots are usually far off from the finished project.

but it depends on how bad of the show im watching.

Two. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt if the pilot episode is a bit weak, but if it hasn't picked up by the end of episode 2 then it's blown its chances.
