I have been on my PC lately for the most part but before that I was playing Elden Ring, Miles Morales, and a bunch of PS4 games.

I love playing the PS4 games on it. I didn't have a 4K TV so I never bought the PS4 Pro but now that I have a PS5 and a 4K TV i'm enjoying some games looking a lot better like Red Dead 2.

Whatever I want. Its so smooth and nice. Its been hard going back to the switch cause of the load time difference.

So you are just arbitrarily gatekeeping a whole platform because it doesnt have exclusive games? Almost everything is multiplat now or will come to PC eventually. With Nintendo being Nintendo.

I'm trying to focus on one game at a time. Currently it's a game on my PS4. After that I plan to go back to horizon fw.

I got it for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart but most recent thing I used it for was Lost Judgement Kaito files DLC.

Is Starfield that game that looks like it's using No Man's Sky as it's blueprint? Lol. It looked boring as hell to me >_<. Your attempt at making me feel bad for having a ps5 didn't really shine through. Hope you enjoy your game when it comes out tho.

I'm waiting on Gotham Knights to come out before id consider a PS5. But even then i dont know if i could justify hundreds of dollars for one game unless it had a stellar exclusive library.

Consoles are mostly sold by their graphics and processing power now. Games and even more so, gameplay don't seem to be a priority. They'll buy the console knowing the stream of yearly releases and overhyped cinematics simulators will catch up sooner than later. We're getting a repeat of 8th gen so far.

Same. It's funny how people think $500 is this giant commitment to us >_>. Im broke and it's still not even a big deal. People literally spend a thousand dollars on a new phone every couple years while I spend $200 on a phone I keep for 4-5 years. I don't need all the bells and whistles on my phone, which makes it real easy to allocate that $500 to the ps5 instead. If you aren't foolish with your money or in a very shitty position because of life, noone is beating themselves up over spending $500 on a ps5. To me, the load times and frame rate upgrades are worth it alone. Not to mention the controllers feel better to hold.

It's kind of goofy people expect someone to feel dumb for spending $500 on a console upgrade while most them do that on phones regularly. One these things makes you more pf a sucker than the other imo. The mechanical upgrade of a console is way more potent than buying the next phone. You feel for society norms.

Tbh this Gen of consoles has sucked so far imo. I have both the Xbox and PS5 and the only worthwhile thing between the two is Gamepass. I mostly game on my PC nowadays though, which also has Gamepass.

It's cool to play older games faster and at a higher framerate but for me, personally, it's still not enough.

Console wars are for plebs, buy and play what you want.

Old PS4 games I never got around to for the most part

This gen of consoles does feel just like another pro-version of last gen rather than a new gen. We are about 2 years into the new consoles lifespans and developers are still announcing that their new games are being built for last gen hardware. Its probably another bad result of modern game development, but doesn't make it feel any worse. This on top of companies having such trouble to actually produce and supply the current gen consoles, leading people to basically compete to spend the chunk of money on one. Very weird generation for sure so far.

To be honest, the PS5 was worth it to me if for no other reason than it makes last gen games run a lot better than they used to.

Lol truth. The PS5 was just another purchase out of my expendable income, idk why folks feel like I have to justify it with ExCluSiVeS

I think most gamers assume with a new console generation that new games that take advantage of the new specs would be released pretty rapidly, like with previous console generations.

And I 100% believe that was the plan prior to covid and the chip shortage. But it's pretty undeniable that there's been a drastic lull of new, 'next gen' games. Doesn't make it any less disappointing though.

To be fair, many of the PS4/PS5 games have taken advantage of the PS5 when that version is used, with improved resolution, performance, loading times, and haptic feedback. Games which are created for PS5 only might have the capability for even greater specs, but not a huge deal.

Sure but none of those cross gen games really feel 'next gen' to me. Like playing Tiny Tina's Wonderland compared to something like Ratchet and Clank. You have the fast load times sure, and the haptics yeah, but Ratchet felt way more impressive immediately.

Maybe TT is a bad example because it's Gearbox lol but that's the last cross Gen AAA game I remember playing. Maybe 'next gen' just doesn't matter anymore though. But that only makes me more sad about the state of gaming lol

Also I should clarify I'm not coming at this from some "console wars" stance or anything. I genuinely love video games on all consoles. I want games to be great across the industry. It just makes me sad that I feel like that luster is gone for me.

I miss the days when a new console generation would come out and there'd be a slew of new games that would blow your mind. Feels like we'll never experience that again

last game was witcher 3 but i'm coming back to finish the DLC after getting assassin creed 3 head in the clouds trophy done so i can save the plat (saved 4 games in total).

If I had a PS5, I'd be using it as a more robust PS4 Pro. I still have a ton of PS4 games I haven't played, so there's no reason for me to have a PS5 yet.

diminishing returns is the thing here

i dont think the exclusives like Returnal or Ratchet & Clank or even PS5 versions of games like Horizon are notably impressive from a technical standpoint. thats just where graphics are at this point

having a PS5 is just about having the best (console) version of any given game and the ability to play the rare true exclusives

GT7 is so good. I made the mistake and burnt myself out getting to Le Mans (also health issues) but its pure simulation racing at its finest. I loved having to tweak cars for the series races. And even then I had to start testing different cars overall due to handling and weight. Felt so good.

Also getting the replay of the race is like a movie on a 4K TV. Its just gorgeous. I would forget that I was the one driving and just marvel at how well it all looked.

Not arguing with you; just saying I still enjoy the additions to the cross platform games.

There is no question that Ratchet & Clank was a step up visually. It's interactive Pixar quality.

And Returnal was amazing in terms of truly using haptic feedback, the half vs full trigger pulls, and the 3D audio. The game wouldn't play right without that stuff. Also, the amount of particles at 60fps per second is incredible. Not to mention loading large, procedurally generated worlds pretty much instantly.

Seriously, Returnal is awesome for anyone who hasn't tried it. Don't let the high difficulty and roguelike structure scare you. It's worth it, and I typically don't play roguelikes other than Hades.

Just replaying a bunch of stuff that came out last gen. PS+ Premium has great titles, Quality over the Quantity that Game Pass offers.

last game i played was Ghost of Tsushima DC. amazing experience. looks amazing on my OLED tv.

right now nothing because im playing FF14 on my PC.

I never picked up a PS4 Pro and there are two people in my household that regularly use the Playstation. I'm more than happy with my PS5 purchase, PS4 games run better AND we now have two consoles so we don't have to overlap.
