You can, but they're absolutely bare bones. No Siri (obviously), no access to Google Assistant, no detailed battery meter (can't see individual charge level of the airpods OR the charge level of the case), it doesn't have ear detection and iirc you also can't customize the squeeze functionality.

At their price point there's just significantly better options for Android that actually give you full access to the entirety of what the earphones are capable of.

Hell I'd even argue you're still better off spending *more* if that "more" means you're going to be able to access 100% of a product.

Mine as well. I still use them though. They didn't cost me anything and I would still be using basic wired earbuds if I didn't get a free pair of pros. They connect fine, sound great, noise canceling works and I can still pause and play with a squeeze.

If I were buying a pair of wireless earbuds I would absolutely go for something designed for Android devices.
