used instead of who as the object of a verb or preposition.
"whom did he marry?"

I remember for much of my life, every situation when I'm supposed to use "whom", I just use "who" instead. It just seems to get the job done for both words.

Quick lesson: Who is for the verb's caster, whom is for verb's target.

No. As long as people can understand what you mean, it literally couldn't matter less if it's technically correct. (And indeed, given that it's generally considered that dictionaries / grammar guides / etc are descriptive rather than prescriptive, one could also argue that "who" is correct in this context by virtue of the fact that most people use it in this context.)

In writing, yes. In speech, never.
