Depends on whether you like CYOA-style horror games with QTEs. Until Dawn was the first game to spawn this series so if you enjoyed that, then I suppose the rest will also be that.

The DPA games have been progressively better with each entry. None of them have reached the heights of Until Dawn yet, but if you like that then you'll enjoy them.

Oh these games are related (anthology-wise) to Until Dawn? Are they made by the same team as Until Dawn too? I liked UD.

They are made by a different studio than Until Dawn, so are completely unrelated beyond the general gameplay.
EDIT: Not made by a different studio, I'm wrong here - still don't have any relation to UD though.

The Until Dawn guys recently released a game called The Quarry, though its in no way related to Until Dawn beyond the gameplay and the same guys who made it.

These games are best when you have a group to play as a character each, imo.

Yeah, Supermassive made Until Dawn/The Quarry as well as the Dark Pictures games, not sure if it's the same in-house team or not, though.

They're not really related to Until Dawn (though they do have loose connections to each other - mainly just in the form of Easter Eggs, although in House of Ashes you briefly end up in the town of Little Hope, although there's a bit of continuity in the framing narrative of the series, with The Curator.

Gameplay is very similar - QTEs; multiple characters; branching stories; everyone can die; massive replayability; loads of clues to collect; items that deliver premonitions; an ambiguously sinister figure who addresses you the player directly between chapters. They don't have the "don't move" mechanic, but there's a heartbeat mechanic that fills a similar role. In fact, arguably they're more replayable than UD, as it has modes where you play as different characters to the main playthrough, seeing different scenes at the points where people split up.

They're noticeably... smaller/less ambitious than UD, though. Not in terms of graphics - they're gorgeous - but even the longest one so far, House of Ashes, is only half the length of UD. And rather than an all-star cast, each one has one "real" celeb in it, then then rest of the characters are drawn from a repertoire of stock character models they have, which they reuse game to game (so the professor in Little Hope is also an Iraqi soldier in House of Ashes for example, albeit with a different voice actor), which personally I quite like, as it gives it an "American Horror Story" vibe with the same cast in new roles each season.

But then, they're also only 25, so that's forgivable.

But if Until Dawn was a movie, Dark Pictures is like the TV show spinoff in terms of scope.

man of medan is fine, the twist ruines the game a little.

Little hope was great up until the ending twist that ruined the whole fucking game.

the 3rd one was legit great.
