EVERY location?

.....ok there goes my theory that a good chunk of Disc 2 gets wiped out due to shifting events eg summoning Meteor wasn't going to be Sephiroth's goal this go-around.

Though even if that is still the goal, just thinking about the sequence of events (unless I'm mistaken), wasn't part of Sephiroth's issue that he didn't know where the Temple of the Ancients was and/or have the keystone to enter it? Future Sephiroth knows both, if he can possess the clones then he could pop over there and get the black materia before the team's even hit Junon. It's not like he HAS to mess around with Cloud and get him to hand it over 2x times? Also he'd want to avoid killing Aerith in this timeline? Hmmm....

This could be sneaky unless 'area' refers to a full scenario. For example, maybe we only go to Junon once a la Disc 1 but we don't do the Disc 2 parts. Junon itself can be regarded as unskipped and unshortened because the level is fully explorable.

Well, there's time for them because there's no world map and Midgar is already done, which is a huge chunk of Disc 1. Disc 1 covers more ground than 2 and 3 put together, so they can make it work.

Does it say that? I skimmed the interview and I'm not seeing that line anywhere.

All I'm seeing is this line:

3FFVII 2

Which doesn't say anything about areas, though it does say not to worry about content being cut.

I guess I assume parts 2 and 3 are just going to be a lot longer then if they're not skipping or shortening anything

but presumably not massively expanding anything to the scale of the Midgar stuff either

Well, there's nothing on the scale of Midgar anywhere else in FFVII, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I imagine they can streamline dungeons to cut down on some length, too.

I suppose each separate sector is about the size one can expect a full town to be in for the Remake.

Disc 2 didn't have that many new areas anyway. It was mostly revisiting old areas. So they could cut out some of that stuff while still finding an excuse to visit Icicle Inn, the Northern Crater, and Mideel.
