I knows there's tons of music about that but early Coldplay probably outdoes the music about women : music about other stuff ratio by a large margin. Especially for it to be so... sentimental

I wouldn't exactly say they were held in high regard, they were just the most popular band in the world for a while and some people confuse the two. Snow Patrol was better within that style in almost every way, except for The Scientist which is probably the one great thing Chris Martin wrote. And not every one writes a great song, so he has that at least.
