Hypercolor i believe was the main brand of shirts that changed colors.
Also popular were Yaga, Mossimo, etc....

Girbaud, Guess, etc jeans were popular.

I had various name brands but my big thing was shoes more than anything. Jordans, Kemps, Reebok Pumps and so on. Skecther boots were gaining popularity and Red Wing boots as well.

Sort of. The cool stuff in my area in the 2000s was preppy stuff, so lots of polos and stuff. I had the American Eagle and Aeropostale clothes because that's what was in our mall, but the kids whose families actually had money always had Hollister or Abercrombie since they could afford to shop in actual cities on the weekend.

I don't think I ever considered Tommy Hilfiger cool clothes. Wore Nike sometimes until high school where most of my friends just wore skater brands, most of which don't exist anymore, and band shirts.

Wear Nike and Adidas now again. DC shoes really fell off on the coolness factor.

Not what you thought about them, what everyone else did. The clothes that were worn by the most popular and savvy kids in your school.

For me it was definitely Tommy Hilfiger by the time I was in 5th or 6th grade.

Remember kids: whatever doesn't kill you can be used as the basis for a lawsuit and a big settlement.

I don't think I really encountered kids like that in grade school. Maybe among the girls, but I don't remember people caring much about clothes much until high school.

You could have probably worn cheap Kmart sneakers and sweatpants and gotten away with it.

I do remember a brief trend where everyone wanted adidas tearaways though.
