Did you beg your parents for it? Did it help establish you on a better rung in the social strata of elementary school?

I had Nike and Ecko, yes. Tommy Hilfiger and Jnco jeans were never popular in my part of LA.

I had a black and red lacoste tracksuit.

At one point I remember having a tie die shirt that changed color on temperature. You could put your hand on the shirt and warm it up. In that spot it would go from blueish to redish or orangish

Same. The price nowadays is insane. Even when you get them on sale they'll run you $70-$80.

Had them all. Had a bunch of Ecko stuff but stopped wearing any of it when the dude bought the Barry Bonds home run ball.

a bit. we were hard on clothes so my mom didnt really get us too much nicer shit. in high school when i bought my own stuff it was nothing but band shirts and dickies.

I had like 9 pair of Jnco jeans, some of them looked like a dress they were so baggy. Adidas was huge in my high school too, but I wore Vans.

It was in the early 90s. I have no idea where I got it and they don't seem to make anything like it anymore. I've tried to find some before. Must have been a fad back then

Were you a kid during the 80's? Cause I remember getting some jordans mid 90s for almost a 100. Also got the SOAP shoes those were 120....now I feel so bad for making my mom paying so much. Hell I felt bad back then and the store clerk was telling me I was a fool for feeling like that.

Ive got a shirt like that now, its just a plain color and then the heat makes it change another. Absolutely love it.

Closest thing we had to "cool kids clothes" were things like Aeropostale and Hollister

Yeah buddy, I had to get those Reebok Pumps.

Girls had Guess jeans and everybody had Starter jackets - mostly Cowboys and Bulls.

90s, but I didn't buy Jordans or player shoes. It's just what I remember from the prices.

Remember those plastic lace holders that use to come on Air Jordans or some shit? Anyway, I talked the guy at the shoe store to give me a pair with my new Nikes (but not Jordans.) I was the shit at Middle School that week.

Nah man, I had fuckin Family Dollar clothes.

Until I got into fifth grade. Then we could afford to get me a pair of Levi's and like five different shirts I would rotate throughout the week. Some name brand stuff here and there.
Kind of annoying, since now as an adult, it doesn't even matter.

Nah, I didnt really care. I hated going shopping and didnt like stylized clothing.

as an adult the name brand stuff i buy lasts way longer than the kmart crap i grew up wearing.

$40 adidas track pants last practically forever.
$30 sweat pants from Target look like crap in 3 washes.

im wearing a $7 pair of walmart jeans right now and they look and feel like shit.

I remember certain stores in the city selling like Levis with designer jeans tags sowed on. And teens would flock to that store.

Never cared for fancy brands, even as a kid, though I did have a pair of shoes with those red-blinking lights in them.

basically no one I knew cared about clothing brands or styles in any way except that everyone thought these were literally the bst thing ever

I owned a lot of it. Adidas, Nike... hell, I still own a pair of Randy River pants. God I wish I could get another pair of those, they are super comfortable for wearing around the house.

this took place in the early 90s.

in 8th grade I caved in and begged my mom for a pair of Z cavaricci pants because all the other boys had them. We went out and bought a pair along with some other popular brands, like IOU. So the next day I wore the outfit we put together and I was made fun of all day for what I was wearing even despite other people wearing similar stuff. I was called derogatory Italian names and such. So after that I went back to wearing jeans and tshirts.
