I wonder how he got to that level of fucked up? We see him immediately after he's banished and looks not great but not the Vecna we see him as now. Just becoming like the upside down, over time I guess?

Doesnt time work differently in the UD?

In reality hes been there for like five years but for him it could be decades of decaying

I think we are still not quite sure how time works there. I can't recall any references to how it works other than the fact that it's stuck in 1983, when previously it was just doing... whatever. So yeah I guess it's entirely possible time moved quicker before 1983. And time imagery was so heavy this season I wonder if time travel will somehow be involved. Like what if Eleven harnesses the shadow monster and uses it as a force for good or something?? I can dream.

I think the show's use of hive mind isn't entirely accurate. We know that demogorgons can act independently because Dart refused to attack them when Dustin gave him a candy bar.

It's not a perfect analogy, but I think it's more accurate to say the demogorgons are like the cells of the Mind Flayer's body. They can't survive without it, but the Mind Flayer isn't actively controlling them at all times.

Wouldnt be surprised if they use the UD and time travel shenanigans to pop back out in 1983, El seals it up from the inside, and then everyone gets a de-aged do over.

who knows though. I hope they avoid stuff like that. >_>

See, I am a sucker for that lol. If I can get a big happy ending, however, I'll take it.

He said he kept absorbing the powers of things he encountered in the upside down. It probably corrupted his body in exchange for the powers thereof. It also may have been the only way for him to survive or feed in the upside down to maintain his body. Eventually, it became corrupt like everything else in the UD.
