I was trying to sell some old crap and found a local gaming group - miniatures, pool, games; all sorts of stuff.

They're local, very nearby (like half of them in walking distance)... and they are nice peeps...

...

And I don't wanna play anything.

...

Yaknow, I always lamented not getting to play much warhammer but now I can relieve that regret since I wouldn't have played anyway (maybe)

I can kinda relate. There's a gaming shop within walking distance of my house that has gaming nights for different types of games every other day (video games, CCG, tabletop, etc.) I once went on Smash Bros. night and had a good time, but other than that I don't play anything else they play there, so I haven't been there since. (Also there's a fee to join in, and I was short on money at the time.)

I don't know that that's being antisocial, it could just be being introverted.

For most of my life I had gaming stores nearby, and they used to run various games, or help groups get together to play their own games, and I never took advantage of any of that because I was never super-comfortable just jumping feet-first into groups full of strangers.

But at the same time I wouldn't necessarily say no if I already knew some people who decided they wanted to play. Because it's not the socializing aspect that's the turn-off as much as the meeting new people part.

It's why most RP groups I've gotten into over the years were always cases where a couple people I already knew pretty well pulled me into a group with a few people I didn't necessarily know, letting me slowly get to know the new people. But I'd always be more hesitant if I only knew 1-2 people and the rest of the group was total strangers to me.

idk, I've never been all that keen on things like game nights. I prefer to do things on a whim.

If it's something where I'm someplace anyway, it's cool. If I have make a whole thing of it, it's like... meh.

Why not both?

I have no problem meeting/talking to new people, just groups of people make me anxious so I usually stay quiet in situations like that.

Same. Im a lifelong Magic the Gathering player and Ive been offered hosting duties for Friday Night Magic that I always turn down. Im more comfortable playing and blending in. I do have to speak up if people are helping others during a tournament I paid to play in though bah

Hell, half the time I build a deck and barely play. I can get my Magic fix playing Arena on iPad even though its a sad substitute. Cant stand Arena. It just depends on the crowd really. The guys at the LGS now are pretty good players so I get quite a bit of discussion and great matches.
