I saw a Tissot watch I really liked today but it was like $700 so I passed for now. I didn't know enough about the brand.

What are some other good brands where I can get nice watches for $1-1.5k. I don't want to spend more than that. I prefer brown leather with gold dial or gold strap.

It's kind of a mid-range brand. They keep their value alright. Seiko is my go to brand.

Watches are just jewelry for men. Treat the pricing the same as if you would be buying yourself a ring or necklace.

Tissot is a good watch. They retain their value, and theyre
well made. Nice movement too.

I second this.

It's not a luxury brand, but well-made for its price.
In fact, I have this one:

I'm not a Watch enthusiast either, but as someone from Switzerland, I know a little bit about our brands.

it's entry level nice. for that price, that watch is probably worth it. my only word of caution is that if it's your first nice watch, i'd get something more versatile. how many days will you actually wear a gold watch? the silver one on leather is only $575.

the 80 hour power reserve is probably the best thing about tissot, that exceeds almost all luxury brands

I only really wear it when dressing up for occasions...either a suit or nice clothes when out for dinner/date or whatever. I wear alot of browns and blues casually, and my wedding band is gold so thata why I'm specifically looking for a brown/gold. I also wear mostly gray or navy suits so gold goes better with that.

To me 575 vs 675 is more or less the same. No need to settle to save $100 if I'm spending that much to begin with.

I was literally just browsing Macy's and I liked it. There were some Movado and Bulova ones I liked too.

I just want a set of 2 or 3 watches to have to be able to wear to these occasions. Like I have a family wedding coming up and I have a nice suit and everything but I'm lacking a watch to go with it.

That's the exact same watch for 220 less lol. I would've pulled the trigger at Macy's if I saw it for that much.

Is it a legit website? How are they able to have such a low price?

it's a legit site, i've bought from there before. it's grey market, which means it doesn't come with the warranty (think they have a 3rd party warranty). macy's is an authorized dealer, so it has the manufacturer warranty

it's cheap enough i'd just go for the cheaper price

They buy up what dept stores overstock. It's a legit site, I've bought my wife some fragrances and sunglasses as well as a watch for myself. Good service.

Ya but I've been in training for the last 10 years...and in training we basically get less than minimum wage for the hours we work. On top of that I had 2 kids back to back and wife hasn't worked for the last 3 years because of that so we're a single income family pretty much living paycheck to paycheck. On top of that I just moved my family across the country which was several thousands of dollars despite being frugal about the move.

September 1st is a huge date for me. I start work as an attending physician and about 2 weeks after that get my first big paycheck. I did moonlighting here and there but nothing substantial because my training was so goddamn busy.
