I thought it sucked major ass, as a video game. It has a cool narrative but it was just so doodoo as a game I didn't bother getting far enough to see it all

This. Wear headphones the whole experience is 1000x better.

I think Hellblade is like, the border-game between games like by Telltale or Oxenfree or something like that where there's very little gameplay and you're effectively playing an interactive movie, and like, a real action game.

The controls can be clunky, and sometimes it can be really frustrating trying to figure out the stupid puzzle, but damn that game was so ****ing good by the end. But you really need to give it a chance, it takes a long time to get going.

If you like this kind of game, I would legit say its like a 9.5/10 it was that good. As a normal game its probably closer to like a 7/10 - still good, but you don't really need to go out of your way, maybe buy on sale.

Cool game. Wear a good pair of headphones.

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to trying it tomorrow night! I don't mind interactive game-movies with clunky gameplay, I do love Silent Hill after all.

It's really well made.

As a game it's kind of crappy in terms of combat and "fun"
But that's by design, the entire thing is made to be an "experience."

If you're a "Games are art" hippie you'll like it. If you're a "Hit the bad things till they go away" power fantasy gamer you'll find it boring as fuck.

And I'm not knocking either category.

I couldn't get into it. It's been a while but I remember the combat making my hand cramp up from having to press buttons quickly for long periods of time. Like when some games make you spam "A" or whatever fast to fill up some meter. It's like that
