My wife bought it for $9.99 so i could play it for free but its just i have plenty of actually good games to play so itll be a long time before i ever play it.

I played it with a friend before he turned out to be a backstabbing snake. I don't know what's more uncomfortable, thinking about the period of time I was unironically friends with that piece of shit or how impossible it was to have a properly critical, constructive conversation about the game because people were mad about how built Abby was and how queer Ellie was depicted from the first teaser onwards. It used to be the latter, but the former just fucking sucks the longer it sits.

Haven't even played the first one yet and I know enough of the second one to not even bother.

If they were going for something unrealistic then this has got to be the lamest shit they used it for.

And also a revenge game about going for revenge and saving the person to take your revenge out on them to have impossible super chompers bite your fingers off to FINALLY be like "Im better than revenge" is just fucking awful

Nope, zero desire to do that. I hated the gameplay loop of the first game, but played through it because I enjoyed the story. But with the story of 2 being what it is... no desire to sit through that gameplay again. I've seen the whole story though

If its a new game and its not available on the Switch, then I havent played it yet. Those type of games usually arent my thing anyway because, in my experience, you struggle to get even twenty hours of gameplay. Im not paying $60-$70 for something that only keeps me busy for a few days.

Yep, fantastic game, the hate is way overblown. I think it suffers from trying to tell a much grander story than the first one, but I think for the most part it worked. Easily a 9/10 game.

Though I think it would've been much better if Ellie and Abby alternated parts instead of playing all of Ellie, then all of Abby, then they merge - especially because there are leftover tutorials in Abby sections that feel like they were supposed to be way earlier in the game. It'd also be easier to like Abby if you got to before you learned the WLF are a bunch of like, fascists.

Its a red flag when i basically never hear anyone mention the gameplay. Like literally in this topic about if youve played a video game or not no one is mentioning the gameplay.

The games either good or bad if you like the story and gameplay isnt worth mentioning either way.

pretty much every aspect has been generally or universally praised, but it's the story that's the issue with some people.

Gameplays amazing/sucks!

Or really anything great or bad about its gameplay. You either loved its story or hated its story.

Hell even if you loved or hated the story theres still no mention of the gameplay.

It comes off as the most middle of the road and bland gameplay ever....

With that being said you can just watch the story on youtube.....

I've tried more than a few times but can never make it past the lesbian weed scene. It's like it was written by someone who's never seen a woman and whose only experience with weed was through the DARE program.

I watched a playthrough when it came out to handle spoilers faster, but that kinda killed my drive to play through. Story didn't reach the same levels as the first game (which was only about a "B" rank in general).

on the game board, system boards, YouTube comments, YouTube videos, etc., I've read and heard comments about the gameplay quite often.

you have to ignore a lot of stuff to miss out on any comments on the gameplay and/or focus on detractor arguments.

Yeah, pre-ordered it and beat it within like, 4 days or something like that. I really liked the improvements over the gameplay from part 1. Definitely preferred part 1's story though since part 2's revenge thing didn't quite click for me.

Really didn't care for almost all of abby's friendgroup though...some awful characters. The one dumbass mel for insisting to come along while very heavily pregnant (I think naughty dog was going for some kind of empowerment thing here, but no, it was just really, really dumb), and her dumbass man owen for causing some really unnecessary drama via still lusting after abby because of muh old feelings for you despite knocking up and being with another member in their friend group. The one dude manny, he was aight' though.

I think my biggest issue with Abby's part was the whole section with the kid. I just didn't give a shit about that portion of the story and it really dragged the game down IMO

Nope. I love the first game so much that I feel like a sequel could never live up. So Ive made the decision not to play the second one.

I thought the 1st game was boring tbh. Only played that one for 6 hours to give it a chance. The gameplay is just not up to my taste. So I just skip the 2nd one.

This. I managed to finish it but I walked away from it thinking 'meh' and I felt no desire to play the 2nd.

I got upto the first semi open world bit and got bored.

Nah gameplay is great. Massive step up from 1. Basically the ultimate Rambo game and some of the encounters are tense and incredibly fun.

Yup, it was really good.

Still like the 1st one more, but the 2nd isn't bad at all. Hate was overblown.

The gameplay's really good. I've heard complaints that it's basically not much different than the first game - maybe why it doesn't get talked about much - but the first one was near perfect, so no problems there.

Though I also thought the story was pretty unsatisfying, weirdly paced, anticlimactic etc, so it maybe almost makes it worse that the gameplay, graphics, sound etc were so good. Wasted potential for what it could have been with a better story.
