Back when Cyberpunk 2077 launched, among the few apologies CDPR offered at the time was an infamous one in which it was claimed the QA simply didnt catch all the bugs people were experiencing in the game.
It sounded laughable at the time, given the scale and scope of the bugs, but it turns out therecould be some truth to that. And its a potentially wild story.
A 72 page document was sent by a whistleblower to YouTuber Upper Echelon Gamers, who has reported on Cyberpunk issues in the past. It focuses on Quantic Labs, a QA company who did a lot of testing work on Cyberpunk 2077. Among the allegations made:
Quantic Lab overexaggerated the size of the team working on Cyberpunk 2077 in order to keep the contract.
Quantic Lab said the team was made up of senior staff, but it was instead juniors with under six months experience in QA.
Quantic Lab had a daily quota of reported bugs, which led to CDPR getting thousands of relatively pointless bug reports from the testers which took up a lot of time, and caused gamebreaking issues to not be found or prioritized.
This would align with the original claim that QA did not find many gamebreaking bugs by launch. You can watch the full UEG video below for more, but the document is very detailed, including names, production schedules and a lot of seemingly internal information.

It wasn't bugs that made the game pretty much unplayable on last gen consoles even though CDPR charged full price for it, basically robbing people at the time.

Lies. They made a video montage of all the bugs before launch. Those bugs were still there on release, so they knew about them. Guess they are hoping everyone forgot by now.

There may have some truth to it. However there is no way the devs didnt know about a good portion that was obvious as fuck. Does not surprise me we have another shady company in Quantic Labs. Fuck both cdpr and ql.

Indeed. CDPR was jhacked last ytear and several video montages were leaked of CDPR employees making fun of the bugs in the game. They knew about it all along and didn't fix them. Google "El Buggado 2020".

Nah. Nice try.

It wasn't like the bugs were well hidden or required complex actions to make the bug hit. There were reports everywhere, even during reviews about the bugs that were happening. I find it hard to believe that not one person that worked for the CDPR didn't boot up the game and say "hey, i'm seeing bugs, why are they saying there aren't?"

I'm not saying CDPR deserves all the blame or anything but this is just trying to pass the buck.

Was there even that many bugs in CP2077 after the day one patch compared to other ambitious open world games like Witcher 3 or the Bethesda games? I don't think so, and even then most were harmless visual bugs.

That is of course, if you played it on a machine capable of running it. No amount of bug reporting would have got the game running on PS4 or Xbox One.

This is the problem with Cyberpunk discourse. The two main reasons people were mad was because it didn't run on their machines and the game was missing a bunch of features like basic open world AI, a cop system, etc. Neither of these issues are "bugs". The least of the issues were the bugs.

CDPR took the "outcry" against bugs and ran with it, blaming all the bad press and hate on them instead of ignoring the actual issues people had.
