I've been playing it a lot the past couple of days and it's pretty good overall. I am noticing reused areas and a pattern in enemy attacks but other than those nitpicks it's pretty enjoyable.

Another annoyance is that I chose the Blood Mage specialization yet in dialogue I'm talking down to other Blood Mages like I'm not one and no one notices. A sad oversight but I guess it would be too much to have special dialogue for every spec.

Isn't it a huge deviation from 1 and 3 though.

It would have been fine if it wasn't a full priced game marketed as a major sequel. The recycled areas make it feel very low budget.

Feels like a weird hybrid actually. You can see where a lot of Inquisition feel came from and it still has a bit of DA1 in it.

Playing as a mage in general is really fucking weird in that game, considering the plot makes such a big deal over mage persecutions and yet you're walking around flinging spells everywhere and the templars just don't give a damn.

Yeah, it's not like magic is subdued like in 1 or Inquisition. In DA2 you're calling down hellfire and all sorts of flashy stuff.

Feels like Hawke was meant to be a Rogue over Warrior or Mage. They have that Rogueish attitude a lot.
