The setting was awesome
The campaign(s) were actually pretty great (kudos to the unreliable narrator angle for the dogfighting chapter)
The guns were obviously unrealistic relative to actual WWI but who the hell wants to die of foot rot and chemical gas?

Also you get to play as TE Lawrence so that's already like B+ material

Battlefield 1 is probable the most fun I've had with a BF and gave a chaos missing from the ones that followed it.

Yeah, and in a weird way the fact that it's WWI there's actually a feeling of wildly experimental warfare that is absent in the later games.

I feel like I'm the only one who like Hardline.

I loved Battlefield 1. It was probably my favorite game in the series

I loved it - but then again, I like crime dramas and buddy cop stuff, and Hardline is literally both at the same time so yay.
Dividing up each mission as a TV episode? Brilliant.

I really liked it. It's clear that they had a solid idea before EA kicked in the door and said "Throw Battlefield on it". The campaign was great and the new multiplayer modes were really fun. I wish they would fold those into the main series. Even with being scaled down they had a much better grasp of class dynamics than any game since BC2 fucked up the classes.

BF1 was a ton of fun but I can't help but be angry at it because EA absolutely fucked over Titanfall 2 by releasing both games at basically the same time.

The single player is one of, if not, the best story mode in any BF game, rivaled only by Bad Company 2. The writing and characters were genuinely fun, humorous, and suspenseful.
And it definitely blows BF4's garbage ass SP campaign out of the water.

I'll acknowledge that the MP was basically BF4 but less, but dammit, I still had a good time with it.

BF1 is the only Battlefield game I've played but it's great.

A bit too short. Wished there would have been more campaigns.

It annoyed me how many automatic weapons and SLRs there were. Barely any of that shit actually got used in the war.

I feel like they had to make a tough choice between making the game fun or authentic, and they ultimately decided the weapons were the part they could fudge.

The weapons of WWI were fascinating from a historical perspective, but they were either old-ass antiquated weapons from the 1800's during the early years, or extremely experimental and prone to problems in the later years. It wasn't until WWII that they were refined enough to be something that feels good in a video game.

You also get the feeling that unlike the other battlefield games they made, there actually was legitimate respect given to it as a horrifying conflict.

I understand that. It's just my personal bias as someone who prefers shooters like Red Orchestra

It was well praised across the board and still has a relatively active playerbase soooo

Now if you asked if you were the only one who LOVED BF2042, that'd be a topic because then we'd all laugh at you

Hella great opening too

Pretty amazing how we went from a game that actually tried to illustrate how horrifying war is while still being a fun FPS to wacky wild hero shooter set in the future in only a five year span.

I liked it for the guns

Play Verdun or Tanneburge instead.

Bf1 was definitely an amazing game. I loved the setting. Definitely felt more brutal.

Bf5 wasn't near as good, but it wasn't as bad as everyone says it is imo. Especially after the abomination that is 2042.
