https://www.rawstory.com/trump-repeatedly-told-people-in-private-that-scotus-reversing-roe-v-wade-would-be-bad-for-republicans/

After a draft of the coming decision was leaked in May, Trump reportedly told people repeatedly that he believes it will be bad for Republicans.
...
"In other conversations, Mr. Trump has told people that measures like the six-week abortion ban in Texas, which allows people to file lawsuits against those who enable abortions beyond that time-frame, are 'so stupid,' according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions.
Stopped clock syndrome?

Trump got used by the GOP establishment.

He delivered their 3 justices like they wanted. Then none of the 3 wanted to hear his election challenges, but they are getting what they wanted on abortion.

Hopefully they will keep fighting each other over this.

It's more about the fact that they have been campaigning on this shit for 40 years, without it they don't really have anything.

They could just say "the democrats want to reinstate Roe v Wade" and probably ride that for quite a while.

Nah they've already pivoted to saying they need to get it banned nation-wide

Indeed but the right have no answer to inflation. In fact it will go against their best interests to do anything to fight inflation. Because if they actually tried to solve it and made things better it would make Biden look good.

The only way anything is done in the next two years is if democrats get more senate seats.

So likely nothing will happen.

I mean, the ink wasn't even dry on the paper before the justices statyed saying they now want to do the same for gay marriage, even reinstating laws in Texas that outright criminalized gay sex.

After they're done with that, they'll probably shift focus to interracial marriage, seeing as these cases blow that door wide open.

Trust me, there's always another hateful regression in line.

Trump is probably pro-choice behind the scenes, assuming he has any actual views at all. But like everything with him and politics, he supports whatever gets him ahead.

It's worth noting that when Trump was campaiging he openly said "Gay marriage is settled but the supreme court needs to look at Roe vs Wade"

Now he says... that's bad?

And the Court is looking at gay marriage

He says it's bad now because he didn't get enough attention for taking credit for it being overturned.

Probably, in the sense that actually overturning it is one less issue they can use to enflame their voter base.

It's one of the issues with motivating your base with specific hot button issues. Once you actually resolved the issue in your favor, you risk losing momentum if you can't find more issues to keep the voters engaged.

I really don't think Trump's base who are already openly anti reality need to be engaged by facts

AS we speak Biden is a far left radical communist atheist who is pouring illegals into the country and giving all your money to feminists via mind control from vaccines

They're not going to stop caring because Roe was overturned. As we've seen it's ignited a huge amount of passionate anti LGBT anti black movements already.

There are dudes who have spent $35,000+ following Trump on tour around the country to attend all his rallies.

The stop the steal farce has raised hundreds of millions of dollars into Trumps bank account

I kinda agree with this. I used to believe Republicans would NEVER actually ban abortion. Because it seems like a really bad idea politically. They seemed to have a good scheme going, promising to end abortion to their voters, but never actually doing it

I think some idiots managed to get into key positions and fucked up the decades old scheme.
