There are very nice trails in my city that you can use for either transit or exercise and my neighborhood has a convenient access point (most do though). When I was like 16 I tried to ride one and couldn't stay balanced and jumped off right away and haven't touched one since. And since America is designed around cars instead of actually being accessible for people to get around via walking or biking, I can't say it's a terrible loss.
