I recently went on a road trip thru PA, WV, OH and IN. Only radio was country. Most of the songs were, break up with girl, truck, cold beer, etc. So, I must ask, I as a NJ I guy want too know why is country music viewed in a way on this part of the east coast?

And a lot of rap isn't about fucking bitches and commiting crime.

The assocation is still there because enough of it is to get noticed

I'm from PA and the only thing I associate country music with is rich dickheads creating songs designed to exploit the poor and convince them that the artist shares in their experience and is just as poor as they are.

The music itself isn't racist at all.

The hillbilly singing the song on the other hand...probably a decent chance they've dropped an N bomb or 1000. You cannot tell me Toby Kieth hasn't.

afaik most of the big country names don't write their own songs, but buy them from writers. a lot of the writers i know are real deal hillbillies that do (or at least did) live something like the lives they sing about. my uncle has a few #1 songs he's sold to like brad paisley and shit, and yeah, he's a tennessee redneck who drinks cheap beer, drives a shitty truck, and loves his wife more than anything in the world

the only thing dishonest is the endpoint, but the origin is legit at least some of the time

Punk is the main genre for racism, but it's a safe bet that country is the most popular genre among racists in the US.

you can believe me or not, not doxxing myself to win an argument, but it's a pretty well documented fact that the majority of country singers don't write their own songs. even if they give themselves writing credit, it's usually just because they changed a few words

While your uncle might be an exception that is definitely not the rule.
Correct, most country artists don't write their own songs. However, the vast majority of popular country songs are written by the same 5-6 people, almost all of whom have degrees in songwriting/music and were born into wealth.

Well, yeah, that just makes it even more of a joke. Can you honestly say that these song writers are getting any royalties at all even when their song hits the top charts?

And like you just admitted, many artists and producers will just up and steal a song if they can't buy it out at a cheap price.

my uncle lives pretty comfortably, so i guess so? and i wasnt saying that my uncle had his songs stolen, he sold them to the artists, the artists changed a few lines, and put their names next to his.

idk, i'm just going off of what i know from him and hanging out in nashville as a kid. i know he's part of a collective of songwriters that started when they were all stagehands and shit in their twenties for the grand ole opry. dont know shit about the other guys really, but looking at their website, theyve contributed to songs to records whose total sales exceed 10 million.

He's one of the lucky ones then, or smart enough to work with more honest folk.

That has a following too, particularly among the Viking larpers, but homegrown US punk may as well have a subgenre dedicated to white supremacy.

Back in the late 80s there was some local guys who did this.

Was some of the most angry, pissed off, hateful sounding music ever.

But in reality they were fakers.
