I know, there are many examples that people talk about. But it's a really noticeable pattern.

So the pedo accusation comes from how he treats Danny in the Shining (currently reading). The way some of the adult men characters talk to him scream "stranger danger" to me. I know Dick was supposed to be friendly because he shines but man he kept asking if he wants to go to Florida.

Then he has Jack reflecting on a story he wrote about a child molester/murderer and he goes on and on about he liked him as a character.

Oh! And then Wendy. First, you're introduced to her on a more intimate level with a description of Jack's semen running down her leg. >_> And now I just finished a part where Jack seduces her with Danny sleeping in the corner while Wendy is going on about how dangerous the hotel is. But it's cool because she's into it. Wendy also seems soooo infantilized to the point where I roll my eyes.

I don't know, there's a history of creepy men in my family so I'm always on edge about that type of stuff, especially when it comes to kids. Is it like some sort of conformation bias, or does SK have some issues?

I still find it weird that, in a story about children getting murdered, loads of people get hung up on a sex scene.

Kids getting brutally murdered? This is good stuff!

No, I am not saying authors are their characters.

I really don't know how to explain the difference between writing about Murder, a common and widely accepted plot item in all sorts of literature and entertainment media, and a consistent pattern of unnecessary sexualizing of children and women. The difference seems pretty obvious to me.

It isn't just about the kids. It's the women, too.

There are other sexual situations involving kids in the book, but the reason why one in particular gets brought up all the time is because the context and reasoning behind it was stupid as fuck.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm making a controversial point. All I'm saying is that moral outrage about a sex scene when significantly more heinous things are happening in the book is just a waste of time.

I mean, think about it. What would you be more horrified about if you were a parent? News that some kids fucked or news that some kids were horrifically torn apart in a gruesome murder? Just odd to pearl clutch about one but gloss over the other.

But like I said, there are other parts in the book involving young characters being caught up in sexual activities.
The reason why people are caught up over this one in particular has less to do with it being disturbing, and more so because it was stupid and unnecessary in the context of the story. Just shocking for shocks sake.

I remember reading a book of his about how a kid was kidnapped, and how his father would do anything to save him.

and knowing SK's reputation, and being familiar with some of his works, I expected a suspect relationship between the two, but it was just a legitimately good and loving father trying to save his kid.

I felt bad for my assumption, lol.

That was such an awesome show. There were so many weird funny moments that I just have to wonder how they thought up... like one time they were watching one of those Facebones training videos and they had shown so many of them before but when Facebones introduced himself again, Nathan was like "Hey look! It's Facebones!" I don't know why that was so funny to me but it was. Or in that same clown episode, during Rockso's music video, you hear a line where he goes "What's that, officer? Why's my nose bleeding? I fell doooowwwnnnn!"

And I always loved the scenes where Offdenson goes into badass mode.
