First episode is strong. Kaiji is a likeable loser.

great series, IMO.

there's also a comedy spin-off called Mr. Tonegawa's Middle-Management Blues, which also goes over the development of the games.

if that interests you at all, I recommend watching it after Kaiji, since it can spoil you.

Most of the show is strong.

It was an alright show, I like the idea of an idiot trying their best to outsmart people smarter than them

Probably one of the best animes. It's just a straight up better Squid Game, which was heavily inspired by Kaiji. But Kaiji feels a lot more grounded, which makes the rich seem even more like a nutjob and that these things could genuinely happen.

Also that Kaiji is way too relatable but also impressive at the same time when he isn't being a cocky idiot.

He mentioned multiple inspirations and Kaiji was one of them. I feel like Squid Game feels a lot more like the typical B-tier death games from Japan, but the setup was a lot more Kaiji than other death games, where it's like a guy down on his luck participating in a game where he meets ppl who probably shouldn't be there, and they grew apart so much that they become enemies.

oh yea, there's also a live-action movie adaptation called Animal World.
