Tactics Ogre isn't even remotely the same thing as Ogre Battle.

That said this game doesn't really look like Ogre Battle apart from the combat system.

That's a massive part of what made the game though. Battles had a huge range of possible outcomes because of the real time element. A unit could be forced out of position, or forced to retreat, or you could kill the leader and make them withdraw, and the reputation system was determined by how quickly you could complete the map.

This game is more like fire emblem except instead of every unit being an individual, it's a small troupe that attack with ogre battle patterns.

Is it really only that far away?

CrimsonAngel, they posted Tactics Ogre: Reborn on the Playstation store. Then they decided that they weren't ready for a press release yet, so they hid it from the public

It has also leaked that they are working on Final Fantasy Tactics: Reborn, but that one isn't ready for the Playstation store yet

I'm up to chapter 6 and enjoying it so far. Paladin lady and her default squad has no range but blocks so much damage and heals it up way faster than they take it, so I've been able to get clever with that on bridges and the like.
