Its the crap in the food. Some of it literally makes you more hungry and some of it is as addictive as nicotine. Most of us eat more than we need, too. Breakfast and lunch are completely unnecessary for many people. Some people need it, but if you sit at a computer all day, you shouldnt need more than a cup of tea or coffee. Breakfast cereals, juices, pastries, etc are all horrible for you.

Yes, a pound is 3500 calories, but only hugely overweight or ridiculously active people need 3500 per day. Most need 2000 to 2500 per day, so you take 500 off that daily to lose a pound a week.

Average person burns about 2000 calories a day. Goes up based on weight and activity but I've never heard of someone burning 3500 a day without heavy exercise.

I eat whatever and just do shit and im about to be 40 and it all works out fine.

Ive lost 10-15lbs just not being stuck in online school and since its been tolerably warm out and I can ride again.

Well yeah, any exercise must be subtracted. You probably needed 2500 day, ate that amount, but then exercised 500 day. That would be a pound a week.

The point is that Vegy misconstrued about 3500 a day.

The only people who should be eating 3000+ calories are serious athletes. Most people dont train hard enough or long enough to benefit from this much food in a day.

We would train twice a day for 2-3 hours each session in the spring for football in college so we needed to ingest 3-4000 calories per day to maintain weight.

OMG. I said yes, 3500 is a pound. And yes, taking 500 off a day will mean a pound a week.

It does NOT say the human body needs 3500 a day. Learn to read.

It is typically 2000 to 2500 a day for the vast majority of people. If people ate 3000 a day, per your post, they would gain weight.

To put simply, to lose 1lb of body fat per week, people will need to have a deficit of around 500 calories per day.

You communicated a deficit of 500 calories compared to a pound of fat (3500 calories). What that screenshot/Google is actually saying is a deficit compared to a persons daily caloric intake that would result in no change in weight (based on their exercise, general health, current body weight, etc)

What you said is accurate for *some* people, but a 500 deficit for *most* people would be eating 1500-2000 calories a day, not 3000.

I eat less than 1500 a day and I either maintain or gain unless I fast a day.

Dunno why my metabolism sucks so bad. All I eat is grilled chicken, lettuce, veggies, and yogurt dressing (less than 50 calories a serving, compared to regular creamy dressings which are like 150/serving). Don't drink anything but water and sugar free drinks. Fluctuate between 135 and 155 lbs depending on how regularly I fast.

You probably need to do some cardio to kick start your metabolism. Just burn a couple hundred calories a day, and don't add more food. You will either slowly lose if metabolism stays the same or moderately lose if you kick start it.
