He was perhaps my oldest friend, a fellow musician, and someone who I could not only fully relate to, but one of the few and possibly the only I could really express certain emotions with musically.

I got the call this morning.

Hes had depression and mental health issues for as long as I have known him, but all of us in his circle were aware of them and he really did seem to be fighting through it. Didnt quit his job, lose touch with friends, stop being himself, or any of the other tell-tale signs something like this was about to happen. It seems he had a manic episode that was much more severe than they typically had been and felt no other solution. Were pretty certain it was not a long-planned thing but a spur-of-the-moment episode, given how his room was found and the conversations we had all had with him over the past few weeks/months.

Fucking sucks. Dont really know what to do now. Anything close to normal life feels pointless and/or dull.

I never lost a loved one due to suicide, so I can't imagine what you must be going through.

I live in Montreal and there has been a rash of underground musiciand dying due to overdose or suicide in the past half year.

Sorry for your loss.

You should try and be there for the other people who are dealing with this, and hopefully they'll be there for you too.

Losing a loved one to suicide is one of the most devastating things you can go through. And it's even harder if you try to deal with it alone.

Im fortunate to have a group of friends out here that he was part of, so that we can all be there for each other and for his family, who lives in a different state. Just been listening to and playing a lot of the music we would play together. A lot of jazz and a lot of old folk songs.

I'm so sorry. I have no idea what its like to lose someone to suicide. But I hope you have people to help you.
