Don't have enough time tonight to fight the new monsters but I did try out the new Switch Skill Swap mechanic. Switchaxe's new counter seems really good so far.

Very keen to know proper impressions of weapons. I was GS main in World and changed to SnS for Rise. might switch back with the new switch skills

I beat Astalos no problem last night and tried Malzeno once with LS. Today I went at it like 6-ish more times with LS to no avail, then I switched to Lance and eventually got him down. I had a really good first try with Lance against Malzeno where I managed to see the skull but I timed out, then I kept spamming return from quest on every other attempt I carted. It definitely felt easier than demo Magnamalo(took me 40 tries with SnS), but the Monster itself is pretty aggressive.

I heard the Cross Slash/Sweep for Lance got buffed and it felt pretty great to me. It's kinda hard to get a complete feel for the changes because we don't have patch notes or every new Switch Skill, but I hear Hysteria is pretty good for GS.

I don't think it will. Switchaxe was already quite good in base Rise. It's almost certainly going to be better in Sunbreak, but it's not like it will be getting anything that will make it catapult into the top weapon spot. Most weapons seem to be quite improved from what I've seen so far, which makes a lot of sense. A lot of the silkbind wirebug costs and recharge rates have been adjusted, along with obviously getting new skills.

I imagine Longsword and the ranged weapons will still remain supreme. Unless they end up overnerfing Longsword.

There are some pretty neat changes to that wannabe Valor Hammer style in Rise for Sunbreak. I might give that a try on Astalos tonight because I didn't really try anything for very long before I started the hunts.

i used the switchaxe too i think. didnt realize it was so meta, now i feel lame

Astalos is pretty tough. I carted to him twice and found it overall rather difficult to land good hits.

As for Malzeno, I tried him twice and got absolutely slaughtered both times. I doubt I'll be beating that fight solo. Maybe not even with other players. He's extremely fast, hits really hard, and of course you only have 15 minutes to beat him.

GS is insane now, that new Hysteria skill is bonkers. The timing takes some getting used to (there's a bit of a delay on when you can activate it after you start a charge attack) but once you do you can just block your way into free true charged slashes all over the place.

nice! Ill have to give it a go again. It felt way too slow in base rise but I probably didnt give it long enough as I was used to focus lv 3 from Iceborne haha

I'm kinda disappointed in the performance on the Jungle map. I know the Switch is a crappy console, but it is a bit annoying. Seems to usually be interior areas of maps since in base Rise the cave in Flooded Forest is always the worst spot.

Nobody cares but I wanna mention that I beat Malzeno a second time, but with CB instead of Lance this run. SAED's hitbox finally getting fixed after 15 frigging months was very appreciated.
