Yeah, the word is not a slur and generally inoffensive in America, so I absolutely understand why she initially used it. But if you are gonna market and sell your music in other countries you have to be mindful of the fact that those countries can have very different interpretations of those words and plan accordingly.

Rap songs have radio edits literally all the time, it doesn't mean the song was condemned. Hell, I don't remember that song generating any controversy at the time. They re-issued the song for an NBA promo and the re-released version was just simply more popular than the original version.

I used that word a lot here lol. I can stop using it online, if it's a killjoy word. But nobody around me irl is easily offended. We poke fun at each other and our own conditions to normalize them and take away the perspective that they're a big deal to us. Works for us. But not everyone finds the same things therapeutic. So, if words I use are making people feel a certain way, it's not hard to stop using a word.
