although of that bazillion you're never going to use any white items, and probably not any greens

also like at least 3 of the 10 manufacturers are objectively terrible

also most of the gun part variables are terrible so you're just gonna stick to a few parts in general

tbh there's really not any reason to use like 98% of the guns you see at all

And uh really you're probably gonna stick to like, 3 types of weapons per character, at most

BL1 had a narrow "powerband" among the rarities, so a decent white gun at a higher level would be better than that orange you've used all of last week.

I think I'm just mad that I keep picking up interesting guns with good looking stats but they always have the same problems. Like great, this weapon has high damage and a very high fire rate...but it has a magazine size of 2.

Or great, this hyperion gun has high everything, but you have to empty the entire clip before it becomes remotely accurate enough to use.

From memory, I pretty much ended up using cobra style asssault rifles for nearly every character, they were just that good.

Do people use Atlas guns in BL3?

They count all of the stat differences as a different gun. So each unique gun has thousands of variations on it's own for the exact same gun.

Sometimes white and green guns can actually be really good but they're also not very fun cuz they don't have the added crazy mods on them.

It's a shame rocket launchers have such little ammo. By the time you're having fun with one you're basically out of ammo.

That's why you go Gaige. All of the guns are pretty much the same when the only way to play is to shoot at the floor and allow ricochet to do its thing.

I very much agree with her loot tier system. It makes you never want to touch anything green or lower and you look at that shit with disgust.

But yet it still kind of works. It does make you appreciate when you get some higher tier shit. I definitely would try out a lot of different weapons in BL3 simply because it dropped and it was high rank

What I find myself worrying about is that I'm playing on switch (because borderlands is most fun with a friend and thats all she had), and aiming the axe throw on console is super annoying. Even with auto aim, it seems to want to track over the head of everything except a regular standing enemy.

I may try the motion controls to see if that helps.

Also explosion kreig seems super fun. Hellfire kreig seems even more fun, but not remotely viable at low levels.

It depends on the game in the series.

As others mentioned, rarity meant less than the parts in BL1. That being said, the actual name of the weapon was based in part on the stats, so if you wanted a good bullet hose a Havoc AR is the way to go. Specifically you wanted a 10+ rate of fire and the rare long barrel type that made the weapon very accurate. Ajax's Spear from the Knoxx DLC was guaranteed to spawn with that barrel, but the other parts varied.

In BL2 the manufacturer meant a lot more than anything else. Basic Dahl weapon, the weakest of weak crap meant to litter a landfill, you'll spend more time reloading than shooting and it'll take half a day to kill anything. Specialty Dahl weapon, from the Lascoux to the Sandhawk, now you're cooking. BL2 was also distinct for having grips and barrels that match the manufacturer provide bonuses to performance, with the former granting larger magazines and shorter reloads while the latter provided a boost to damage. Maliwan weapons in particular, which were always elemental, really benefited from having matching grips and barrels since those also multiplied the effectiveness of the elemental DoT and proc rates. Launchers took things a step further as every part provided bonuses. Wanted an accurate launcher with seemingly doubled projectile speeds, Maliwan exhaust, accept no substitutes. Wanted a boost to reload speed? Tediore scope.

In BL3 for the most part the name of the weapon determines a bit about its behavior. It could be pronounced, as it is with Maliwan where it tells you whether the weapon is a charge up per shot or fully auto or specialty projectile, or less influencal as it is with Jakobs weapons. It's just a shame that most Heavy weapons are crap. Out of the generics I usually only ever bother with Vladof, and usually seek those with the Big Boy rocket for some decent AoE burst damage. Sniping as a whole seems nerfed too, nothing like that feeling of sniping with a good Jakobs in BL2.

Cost Effective Q-System is worth using. Ideally you want one with the Tracking Darts feature. Tag an enemy's crit spot, and then send homing bullets towards their skull for the next 10-30 seconds. If you get the OP-Q System then it's even better. The alternative fire changes, so you'll use that less, but the weapon pumps out a lot of bullets while interspersing Shock rounds in the mix to quickly strip shields.

Ruby's Wrath is a fun Heavy weapon too, and I'll usually make an exception to use that even as I hate most Heavy weapons. It fires a Vortex Grenade that tags all nearby enemies while pulling them together. From there you hold down the fire button and send out 7-70 micro rockets that home in on the group. Decent damage against both single targets and swarming groups of enemies.
