Kendrick Lamar's latest album "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers" featured transphobic lyrics and had slurs aimed at LGBT people.

And judging from the lyrics he's not using straight as a reference to his sexuality. He's saying that he's doing alright or OK. The very next line is about one of his cousins dying. The lines preceding that are about him having money before rap cause he sold drugs.

Did you actually listen to it yourself or did you have someone tell you about the album?

This. 100% this with no room for error.

I listen to this E-40 song where the hook has a dope as beat that rides than he just says "Straight like that". It's funny to think some are thinking Im listening to a song bragging about being a straight person.

Tbf, you can find homophobia in rap still if you really want to tho. There's a few artists I listen to that still use the D slur for lesbians. Makes me cringe and I usually just skip those songs since there's so many other ones anyway. A lot of hip hop has an edge to it, so it's hard to tell if they're just being edgelords where they still can or if they really care on a deeper level about girls kissing girls. Hell, the rest the time they talk like that's the dopest thing ever lol

Good luck. Go ahead and throw DMX up there at the top.

And like most have said, straight can just mean Im good and nothing at all to do with sexuality.

I was just about to ask for more context either through the previous line or next line. Figured it might have had a different meaning than TC thought.

TC, if you're not even going to listen to the songs yourself and can't even figure out how School Boy Q is using the word "straight" based on context then maybe you should step away from this little project of yours and let someone else handle it.

Read the lyrics. Hes not talking about his sexuality lol hes straight as in hes good, hes ok, his mom prayed for his safety.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/9/2/8/AAfCfxAADU34.jpg

And even if he was talking about sexually chances are the lyric would be him probably be thanking god hes straight because if he wasnt his daughter (who he loves a lot) wouldnt exist.

His daughter is literally on the cover of this album (Oxymoron)

This is a bad faith thread with out of context lyricsWhy do you want people to think Schoolboy Q is transphobic?

but running a script that looks for keywords in someone's discography is easier than listening to the song
then I can just tweet it and be corrected
leads to more engagement

I mentioned the straight because he says it twice in the song

I let y'all fucks parler, you wonder why I'm straight

like parler is like gossip
so i thought it was like he isn't about that stuff because he is straight

Neh. Straight is one the oldest synonyms for "Good" "Okay" "Fine" that there is in hip hop. It would have to be super blantant and have directly hateful lyrics surrounding it for it to be interpreted that way by most people

You're spreading nonsense out of context lyrics to drum up controversy

why did they cancel dababy for saying the things he said

but schoolboy q can say the f word in his songs in 2 different languages and still be good.

although listening to his newer stuff i feel like having a daughter changed his way of thinking

so i guess we should be able to forgive ppl for their past

still nothing wrong with pointing out the past right?
