The highly anticipated PlayStation game God of War Ragnarok is planned for release this November, according to three people familiar with the games development, despite reports this week that it had slipped to 2023.
Publisher Sony Group Corp. is expected to announce the release date later this month, two of the people said.

Sony literally bucking years of precedent of not releasing first-party AAA games after September (unless it coincides with a console launch) if this is true, wtf

It is, but they've already announced there is no upgrade path to the PS5 version.

Also lol @ people on Reddit getting upset over pointing out Sony is clearly intentionally pushing this game out outside of their usual release window rather than waiting until 2023.

Holiday season. Dope. Maybe I'll be done with Elden Ring by then and can find time to enjoy it.

Nobody wants to fuck in or around the likely March 2023 release of BotW 2.

Why would they be mad about it? Other than lolreddit

Also, I'm super hyped but I would rather it be completely finished and if they need to push it to 2023 that's fine.

Because they're convinced it's a shrewd business move by Sony to "get in on the holiday sales" despite Sony having shown literally every year they have no interest in releasing their own games that late (which would do exactly that) unless it's tied to a console launch.

It's clearly just an attempt to not have "2021 game delayed to 2023" attached to it plus this being the big one:
