And millions wondered if their cable went out. A ending seen as bizarre, but makes sense once you think about it and notice the hints.

Same. I also saw the show after it had already ended and of course everyone knew how it ended because it was talked about so much. When I finally saw it, I was still a bit confused, but after thinking and doing some reading I came to love how it ends.

Damn, just saw that The Wire is now 20 years old. Debuted June 2, 2002. HBO was stacked with great shows in the 00s.

the wire was way better than sopranaos. i like bofh shows.

Yea. It is up there with Lost as series finales where it hints toward one thing but for a while people thought it meant something else.

It's the ending the show deserved, the only ending that would make sense, even if it wasn't necessarily the one many people wanted. I'm glad they were brave enough to go with it, and the level of frustration it caused is evidence of its success.

Despite the scene being shot from a third person perspective the camera mostly lingered around Tony and his killer struck right after the door opened. Lights out Tony. Didn't see it coming.

Doesn't make any sense.

Almost 99% of the time a guy would never get clipped in the presence of his family.

Never religiously watched the show.

But I guess there was some reason.

People that hate it didnt pay attention. Bobby dropped hints. That scene wasnt filler my friend.

I remember me and my friend were arguing if he was dead or not (he didn't think so)

It's not 100% accurate when it comes to mob stuff. Still, Tony being murdered in front of his family could be revenge for Phil Leotardo being killed in front of his wife and grandkids, along with other reasons.

They even replay that scene at the end of the second to last episode. The death of Gerry Torciano in the restaurant that Silvio witnesses is also another hint. Silvio doesn't even notice the first shot at first. Silvio even talks about it afterward.

The whole sequence set up a series of cuts that reveal exactly what happened.

Tony is seated at the table. Then the same sequence plays out 5 times.

*Bell rings*

*Tony glances up at the door*

*next cut shows what Tony sees*

First two are random people.

3rd is his wife.

4th is his son and the shooter.

5th is black screen, because Tony is dead, shot from the side by the triggerman who walks to the bathroom on Tony's right side before the 5th bell ding. Like was already opined in the series, he never even heard it coming.

Yeah, in front of his new wife and step daughter. In revenge for supposedly being behind the assassination attempt on Joe Colombo, who was shot in front of a huge crowd and probably his family too.

Pretty much. They made sure to show the guy in the member's only jacket multiple times looking at Tony.
