Everybody loves me actually

D. I do my job well, and decades of having to learn slowly how to cultivate people have eventually paid off.

Honestly here is where I'm at my worst.

Deny I feel like it's kinda self aggrandizing to feel that way too. Most people dgaf about you whatsoever.

Only like 10 people know I even exist.

And probably even then Confirm.

I don't even know any more. I was actually liked and respected at my last job. For the most part.

Most people IRL seem to tolerate me. CE, I suspect, doesn't recognize me enough to have any feelings about me, which is fine.

There doesn't need to be a disclaimer to saying "most people dislike me" because anyone can reasonably understand that this is being directed at people you've actually met or interacted with, rather than people at large.

That being said... considering that i've never had friends and that the majority of people actually got in on bullying me while I was in school, it's a pretty safe thing for me to say. Most people HAVE disliked me across my life.

I'm focused on me, my family, and my achievements. If they can't understand, nor respect that then it ain't nothing to me to cut them off from my life.

When history has demonstrated that the vast majority of people will not like you, there is no having confidence. I'm working on evidence, not fanciful dreams.

D. I have a lot of friends, and I'm very well-liked at work. However, I imagine a big part of the latter is because I keep my mouth shut about my opinions on politics and religion. If I was more open, it'd probably push people away.

They either dislike you or talk behind your back while pretending to be your friend, which is insufferable and not remotely indicative that the person in question is moral or desirable. Even if they're trying to be polite, it's still not acceptable.

At best, some people can be neutral.

Part of the issue is that people are so easily offended. What if simply being yourself incidentally offends someone? As in, not on purpose but by consequence of the way you live?

It's really not as simple as be yourself. We need to stop pretending it is. You can be yourself, but if you have a personality trait or two that society doesn't deem as desirable, you will be shunned. People are predictably stupid.

People instinctively don't like me. When I was in school and being bullied, even the teachers joined in the "fun", so that tells me that some inherent flaw about me is strong enough that pretty much anyone will notice right away.

Probably yes , I make terrible first impressions.

Sounds more like you were in a pretty shitty environment if even the teachers were bullying you

Deny. People either like me or are neutral in real life. The few people who dislike me is because of stuff I have done and they deservedly dislike me. Usually women I have broken up with :(

My issue is that most people do generally like me, but the relationships are superficial and never get any deeper.

It was definitely a bad environment, but it's all i've ever known. I'm still in the same area and will likely never be able to leave it, and even my presence on the internet is disliked. I'll never experience anything to the contrary.

Not sure rigid perspectives are good, especially when they pertain to your mental health...but I can't say I don't understand. I hate people with a burning passion because of a bad upbringing.

Feel you on the empathy thing too. It only comes out in finite bursts these days, and not for very long.
