Like, I imagine the Predator is chuckling at the notion some dude is actually gonna try an shoot and arrow at him.

Hopefully there is Aliens in the movie but I guess there shouldn't be right? They supposed to be frozen in a temple or something and that would implying a more Mayan or Aztec setting.

Ever since the Hunger Games every badass female character has a bow now.

There were a few one-shot Predator comics that had them facing off against humans in non-modern times. Off the tops of my head, there was one that had a Predator vs 17th(?) century pirates and another one that had a Predator vs a hunter in the plains of Africa.

Considering how it was defeated in the original it seems fine to me? Knowing the land and using it for your advantage is how to beat them.

I think so? I was a kid when I read those. There was even a direct reference to the pirates one at the end of Predator 2 (the old fashioned gun that gets awarded to Danny Glover's character at the end of the movie)

I wanna say that was Dark Horse who did those comics. I know for sure they did the Batman vs Predator comics.

This is the best idea they've had for the franchise since the original. Dunno why people are hating on it.

This is easily the best direction for the franchise. Just take a historical setting and throw a Predator in there. This movie looks fine to me. It honestly feels like people forgot about the flammable garbage that was The Predator movie directed by Shane Black. It could be a lot worse right now.

its pretty bad. tone is off with all the jokes and callbacks. it tries to advance the predator origin type shit and just kinda falls on its face. guess it needs to go somewhere with them but that wasnt it.

Easily one of the worst movies of 2018. The plot isnt cohesive nor well written at all and the characters have the depth of a cardboard. All they do is spew quips and make jokes the entire movie. Theres barely any tension or suspense at all. It gets to the point where its very annoying to sit through since many of the jokes dont land well.

Shane Black tried to turn this franchise into an action comedy but the comedy part failed spectacularly and the action part pales in comparison to the first movie. The final act of the movie is filled with incredibly silly, fan fiction tier ideas like the Ultimate Predator and the Predator Dog. Its all for the sake of action that fails to keep the viewer engaged since they dont really care for the story or characters.

The Predator is never worth a watch even if youre extremely bored. Id honestly rather stare at a brick wall than sit through that movie again.

I liked how the writer was under the impression autism somehow makes you amazing with and immediately understand alien tech.
Hollywood using autistic kids as the ultimate maguffin isn't as virtuous as they think it is and is usally downright offensive imo

There's one comic where a farmhand killed a predator with a pitchfork. Granted it was a backstab but still.

Right, the way that child character is written was done in poor taste. Its good that there was some backlash to how autism is portrayed in this movie. However, the fact that this was greenlit just goes to that Hollywood still has a long way to go unfortunately.

This movie even almost had a registered felony sex offender on screen. If Olivia Munn never spoke out to the executives, Shane Blacks friend, whom tried to lure a 14 year old girl into a relationship with him, would have appeared on screen in a minor role.

Native American hunters vs. Predator? Fuck yes, I'm in. That's a badass premise.

However, I have a problem with the main protagonist. She's not selling me on it. If it had been about an older woman, maybe mid-30s or early 40s, I'd be digging it. Give us a capable, strong protagonist facing a challenge unlike anything she's ever seen before. Matching wits and outmaneuvering a Predator should take extreme skill and ingenuity. So give us a seasoned warrior; give us a 'fair' fight.

I get the idea; it's like a coming-of-age story for this burgeoning huntress, but like...why? I don't want to watch a movie about an awkward girl, who barely knows how to hunt, proving herself to her tribe for the first time by killing a fucking Predator.

It's way too much like cheesy YA-novel shit for me. And it looks insanely predictable; the trailers basically showed the entire story, unless they're doing this on purpose to deceive us. The only way this movie will earn some credit with me is if she fails.

On the subject of the Predator? AvP: Requiem may not have been perfect, but it knew how to make a Predator look and act badass.

My wish list for a good Predator movie is pretty simple: I want to see a Predator doing cool shit and killing off a bunch of trained soldiers/experienced hunters/Xenomorphs/etc. until one of them maybe finally gets a lucky or well-planned advantage and barely squeaks out a win or a draw vs. an extremely dangerous and capable otherworldly huntsman.

I don't want to see a young, scrawny-looking, inexperienced, unproven huntress (who can't even handle a bear), defeat a Predator in the year 1719. That makes it seem like the Predators have been getting their asses kicked by humanity for centuries, which really cheapens the concept, in my opinion.

Btw, The og predator didn't even fight fair against Billy. He used his cloaking device and stabbed Billy from the back. So much for a proud hunter species.

Yeah, he directed those movies. What happened was Shane Blacks longtime friend was a registered sex offender. He plead guilty in 2010 for trying to lure a 14 year old girl into a sexual relationship. Despite this, Shane Black still got his friend a small role in the movie where he harassed Olivia Munns character. When Olivia Munn found out about this mans past, she wanted his scenes to be removed from the movie and went straight to the executives since Shane Black initially defended his friend and refused to cut the scenes. When the media found out and there was notable backlash, the cutscenes involving Shane Blacks friend were cut.

This is dope and it's exactly what the premise of the Predator movies should be. Give me one where he fights a ninja or samurai next.

I am very confused by this topic. The whole premise of the original movie was that the Predator's technology and physical ability made the technology and physical abilities of a bunch of badass special operatives look trivial.
If the protagonists seem to be outmatched in the new movie - good. That's how it's supposed to be.

The point here is people can see the natives are vastly out gunned, in the first 2 Predator movies the people atleast had firearms making it more even in terms of technology.

Dutch was only able to take on the predator after using mud as camouflage, knowing what he was dealing with, and most of his people killed.

Natives have primitive tech and it is really an unbalanced hunt especially when some hunters do not play by the rules.
