The 80's movie Trading Places smartly shot alternate takes to certain scenes (mostly the nude scenes, but some with language as well) to create a TV edit of the film. I'm surprised more movies don't do this

I want to remember a Cinderella movie that was made in West Germany that had some alternative scenes made for the East Germany release.
Which makes me think of this whole Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone / Sorcerer's Stone and Dragon Ball / Dragon Power thing.
"Hey, we Americans have no idea what the Philosopher's Stone is, so nobody will buy this book, so we are going to rename it to the Sorcerer's Stone. Nobody knows what that is because I just made it up, but it will totally sell!".
"Hey, we Americans have no idea what Dragon Ball is, so let us make a lot of changes to turn this unknown IP that will not sell because it is an unknown IP, into a whole new unknown IP that will sell even if it is a totally unknown IP!".

There's a scene in OG Dragonball where Oolong turns into a fish and swims away from the group, and Goku uses a fishing rod with Bulma's panties to lure him back lol. In the old old dub of OG Dragonball (before Toonami), they (poorly) photoshopped it to look like a wad of money, but it never animated properly, so it looks really bad >_>

Even though it was 4Kids trying to censor out the idea of death from the series, pretty much any fate involving the Shadow Realm in Yu-Gi-Oh is a fate that could arguably be considered worse than death.

There's a scene that very clearly establishes that General Blue is a pedophile and tries to kiss a child, and the dub tries to retcon it that he was his little brother

Movies are longer before they get cut down. In some cases, these longer versions are sent to the TV companies that decides what to cut and making sure that commercial breaks doesnt happen in the middle of a scene.
Some times, the TV company decides to show the whole uncut movie a handful of times. The old Superman movies are famous to have been aired uncut on TV a few times with scenes that never appeared anywhere else. The first movie had almost half an hour of extra content and it wasnt that long ago that it was released officially on disc.
Another famous example is Waterworld, the added scenes made one of the worst movies watchable.

I saw a documentary on Bravo about censorship, and they talked about and showed a clip of a TV movie adaptation of Judgment at Nuremberg.

They were forced to censor a line referencing the gas chambers because one of the sponsors was a gas oven manufacturer

maybe just dont sponsor that thing if that's what your company does

yeah that's localization poor dubbing. I watched a show from... I forget which European country, Germany maybe? and a girl was talking to another girl about good "hangover cure" foods and according to the subtitles, she listed Doner but the dub said Big Mac instead.

MTV used to be pretty wild with it. One example I remember is from that Limp Bizkit song with Method Man, Meth says "brought a sword to the dance floor to cut a rug" and they censored the word sword. Always thought that was weird

Also that part in Breakfast Club when Brian has an emotional moment and yells out "FUCK YOU" being censored to a pretty tame sounding "Damn you!" always makes me laugh
