My first name is bland and super common. My last name is really rare but its 2 letters away from one of the most common last names you can have. So whenever I introduce myself people always ask me to repeat my name like 3 times and ask if Im saying that common surname when Im not.

Its kind of annoying when that happens. I just went through it again with a guy one the phone that I was trying to set up a job interview with. Even after I told him my name 4 times and even spelled it out for him he still called me by the wrong name after that. He even looked at my resume which has my name written on it multiple times and continued to say the wrong name.

Part of me wants to just change it to that name people mistake it for but thats probably too much of a hassle

My surname isn't difficult but American English can pronounce the vowels too many different ways, so...

My last name is super common and BLERGH and I'm contemplating deleting it and making my middle name my last name instead.

But I've been contemplating that for 10 years, so I probably won't.

Im changing my name, it only cost like $400 and takes like 2 months.

Changing it from a biblical first name with a surname that literally means lazy or lethargic to a regal first name with a surname that means hard working.

I'm named after my dad who passed away just over a week before I was born.

I also have the same name as the guy who died trying to do a speed record on water. My name was mentioned in a Bond film, the one with Halle Berry
