Most difficult level?

I'll admit I didn't really consider options more than the first 5, but poll had room.

I had not experienced this game until a couple of days ago, but man is it great. I loved it the whole way through, which is impressive for a game that has so many different level gimmicks. Of course some were more fun than others, but nothing was annoying.

After completing everything, my final death count says 3829 deaths and a bit more than 22 hours played. Probably less playtime than that though, I've left it on a bit now and then, never long, but it adds up to something. I don't any level was significantly harder than others, my high death counts are mostly the longer levels. 7 and 9 were definitely my favorite levels, but again, all great. Despite loving the game, probably wont care to go for golden strawberries, such things usually aren't me though it's cool they're there. A replay at some point is likely though!

Final trophy was getting six strawberries without touching the ground, which I only did because of the trophy at the end. I had assumed level 9 was what I was missing for it to put. I had only checked that nothing was missable before starting and then just enjoyed the ride.

If anyone has some game recommendations based on that I absolutely enjoyed this game to its fullest, please share!

One of my proudest platinums - quite astounded I had the patience to learn the huge section at the end of 7c (I did it without any cheats - which, given the % of people who got the Plat compared to far easier games, I suspect many didn't). Game also has a godly OST - especially this track from 5b: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKnwVvXkWq0

I like Rayman Origins and Legends but they are very different types of 2D platformers to Celeste. The Ori games might be a bit closer. This thread has some discussion.

Super Meat Boy is the closest thing to Celeste gameplay wise. I like it a lot

I would go another way and recommend Baba Is You because it ramps up the difficulty and genius in equal proportion, similar to Celeste. There's a huge drive to beat every challenge and go farther and farther, even if levels go from being 1 minute affairs to 5 minute and then 45 minutes.

I adore Celeste. It's possibly my favourite game of the 2010s. I honestly think most people who got the platinum didn't cheat! It's amazing at ramping up the difficulty slowly but surely, and if you're finishing every level of the game you'll get almost all the achievements naturally - I don't know many people who carried on playing after 7A who didn't finish it all. It's a very difficult game, but not in the 80s platformer way of being tedious and punishing, nor is it anything to do with questionable design or jank controls. It's really hard to blame the game for yourself being bad, and the game doesn't try to make you feel bad or punish you for dying a lot, and that gives it the license to put out levels that look like something a kid made in Mario Maker when trying to get their level to stay at 0% completion. It's also in literally every itchio charity bundle ever (and Humble for like $5) and can run on a potato, plus it's on most consoles for $20. This is not a sales pitch I promise.

Also, the physics engine is so much fun, and the game is amazing for speedrunning because of that, the lack of punishing you for mistakes, the phenomenal movement and the amazing soundtrack. I'll chill now.

9 is definitely the hardest level. I spent almost two hours on the damn comb room (if you played it, you know the one I mean), which was more than the very final room and the end of 7C combined.

I'm considering going fully in for the grind on the golden strawberries. I'm currently sitting at a total of 196 berries. I dunno if I'll ever manage 3 through 8B (although I've somehow done 5B) and I applaud anyone who has the time and dedication to manage Farewell, but I'm very happy having finished up both the A and C sides for good.

I'm produkter of this platinum too, though it only took me a few days so it doesn't feel as rewarding as some other things.

Thank you for the recommendations! I have already played Baba is You and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Didn't play it alene either, had a great time discussing some of the harder stuff.

Completely agree!

9 is probably the hardest level overall, but I'm not sure any screen there was harder than the one in 7C (might be my favorite) or even the one in 8C so it depends on how you look at it.

Celeste was pretty great. I struggled with diagonal movement a decent amount since it felt picky to me
