What's funny is Tesla has been and still is the only automaker that is increasing production. Tesla is hiring like crazy right now.

Ford is cutting production and does not make EVs with union jobs. They make the cars in Mexico to dodge the union and still sell what EVs they can make at a loss. Ford is considering spinning off their EV brand as another company because it will never be profitable.

This is hard to parse out because everyone involved (Elon, Biden, Ford, Media) are disinformation machines.

Yeah, 10% of top exec salaried positions, as the headline and email stated. That's like a handful of jobs that Tesla culls, freezes, then hires others annually.

Tesla is hiring a lot more than that while opening new factories, because production is still exploding exponentially. As the rest of the emails said.

How much does it steam you that I made 7 figures on the stock for being right about all of this many years ago. I don't like Tesla and I've hated Musk from the beginning. It's just the stock.

But I do get buttmad triggered by simping for legacy automakers. They lobbied against climate change measures, ruined our infrastructure, lead poisoned the boomers, and donate to Trump. They've been lying about their EV plans for decades.

Tesla is laying off 10% of their high exec salaried jobs, not total jobs. At least read the full headline. They are hiring way more than that in other job categories. Ford's stock is down 50%. A lot of the market is cut in half or worse.

Is "having a bad feeling about the economy" really a controversial and partisan statement now? Inflation is at the highest it's been in most people's adult lives and interest rates are on the rise. If you don't have a bad feeling about the economy maybe you should take a look around.

In all fairness going off of quarterly earnings from a year ago is cherry picking, and according to yahoo finance, those aren't accurate.

According to yahoo finance, Ford has a higher ttm net earnings and significantly higher revenue.

That said, Tesla's been consistently growing its earnings and revenue at a pretty high clip over the past four years. Ford has been inconsistent at best.

If Tesla were growing their earnings without simultaneously growing revenue that would be a very bad sign for future growth.

But I think at the core we both agree. If I had to place a bet on tsla or f over the next decade or two I'm definitely going with tsla.

Going off recent data is fine, but based on the past twelve months, even with their Q1 loss ford is sitting at a higher net than Tesla. This is to be expected, it's a much larger company than Tesla currently is(not really a good thing in this context) and I would guess that is going to change in the not too distant future.

I may have been critical of tsla's inflated valuation but I've definitely never told anyone to sell(or buy) shares. My stance on tesla for most of the past 5 years or so is that I see it's future potential but think too much is baked into the cake for it to be a good buy in my opinion.

It's already changed though. The trend is there, Q1 is no fluke. 2 new factories for more rev with even higher margins just opened. Ford is still cutting production as I type.

But that's always been the problem, everyone says overvalued. Even when it's $30 with a bankruptcy that was never happening baked in they said overvalued. Growth is just harder to value because it's not some lame collection of metrics you can spend 5 sec looking up for an answer.

To justify Tesla's current price you just need to assume margins hold up or Tesla's own 50% growth projections. You then get the chances of them ever solving self driving, do anything in robotics, etc as a free call option. Then no one else even has plans this decade to mass produce EVs. So if that's where the market is headed, lookout.

I haven't bought much Tesla since summer 2019. But I haven't dumped it all yet either because the path is there.
