It's school sports. Who actually cares? Oh no someone might have a slight advantage when competing with their middle school team against other middle school teams in their area. It's such a pointless thing to care about.

I read a book last year, Work Won't Love You Back, by Sarah Jaffe. It has a decent chunk dedicated to the idea that gender and gender roles are things that have been enforced and imposed throughout history; they don't arise from a vacuum. We look back upon the witch hunts as religious superstition gone to 11, but a lot of it was putting unmarried women in their place.

Anyways, just something that came to mind.

All they would be doing is making doctors verify male or female. No one is asking kids to drop trough for random inspections.

The bill allows for any parent to challenge the gender of an athlete and subject them to those doctor inspections.

They're asking for a doctors note which athletes have to get a physical for anyway, and those include the ol' hernia check. So basically it'll be another check box, not some molestation thing people are describing.
