In DCAU Justice League, the grown up Flash we see ends up being Wally West, who we learn is actually Kid Flash in Young Justice

Yeah, he got revived a few years before the New52 happened. Wally was the Flash for 2 decades which is why there was no mention of Barry in the DCAU

Damn... is that the longest a major superhero had been gone? It would seem almost permanent to some.

Depends on what you consider major. Heroes have been dead longer and because they've been dead for so long people stopped caring about them but they were a pretty big deal at the time.

Bucky was "dead" for over 40 years.

This.
Hell...Wally is what made the Flash the popular character he is today. Pretty much every badass feat Wally did during those 2 decades has been transplanted to new Barry. Infinite Mass Punch, running across time without external aid, Speed Force manipulation to create costumes and lightning bolts, stealing objects' kinetic momentum,...

Barry should have stayed dead. His death was perfect. The passing of the torch was perfect. Flash was never as good as it was during the Wally years, especially the Waid and John's runs.

But the problem was that the people who grew up with Barry as their Flash eventually became the people who were writing comics, and once they got the clout, they brought him back.

I fully expect to see Wally jump back into center stage once this cycle repeats itself with people who grew up with Wally.

Soon we're gonna get people in charge whose first flash comics were the aged-up Bart ones that came out following Infinite Crisis. >__>

Speaking of Bart, making him Kid Flash was a mistake. Impulse was a better name, costume, and identity. It was a complete waste to put him in the boring ass Kid Flash costume.

Bart Allen is Impule, he's Barry Allen's great grandson?

And Wally is the only one not related, he's a separate speedster?

Is quippy Flash the signature of Wally West only or was Barry Allen also like that?

Wally is Barry's nephew by marriage. He got his powers through an identical accident to Barry.

If you consider being around as the Spectre as "dead", it was around 7-8 years.

Bart and Barry had very little overlap, with Barry being dead for the vast majority of Bart's life. Wally on the other hand was one of Bart's primary mentors (along with Max Mercury) and basically taught Bart how to be a superhero.

Ah ok. What was the event called again, infinite crises on infinite earths? How many were there, I know there was one and then another that was either caused by Flash or fixed by him? Which was the one that had "those were for charity Clark" line

Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985): The Anti-Monitor attempts to destroy the Multiverse, all universes are wiped out except for one that's a composite of several, Barry Allen (among many others) dies, Waly becomes the new Flash
Zero Hour: Crisis in Time (1994): Hal Jordan (after becoming Parallax) attempts to destroy time and replace it with a new "perfect" universe. Some minor stuff gets changed, like Hawkman and the Legion getting rebooted.
Infinite Crisis (2005): Earth 2 Superman, Earth-Prime Superboy and Earth-3 Lex Luthor return and aren't happy with how things are going. Lex attempts to create the perfect world (destroying those he considers "imperfect"). As a result, a new Multiverse is revealed.
Final Crisis (2009): Barry Allen returns, Darkseid obtains the Anti-Life equation and takes over the universe, there's an evil Monitor called Mandrakk that shows up at the end for some reason, other stuff happens that I'm not clear on.
Flashpoint (2011): Barry Allen screws with time, resulting in The Darkest Timeline (Wonder Woman and Aquaman are evil and at war, half of Europe is underwater, all sorts of other terrible crap is going down). The DCU gets rebooted at the end.
Convergence (2015): Brainiac steals a bunch of cities from various points in DC history and makes them all fight each other. At the end, the full multiverse is restored.
Doomsday Clock (2017): A crossover with the Watchmen Universe. Dr. Manhattan dicks around with time and space and a bunch of stuff happens. The full multiverse is restored at the end. Again.
Dark Knights: Metal and Death Metal (2017-2021): There's a Dark Multiverse, where every terrible thing that can happen does, and there's a bunch of evil Batmen led by the "Batman who Laughs" who is basically the most dangerous person ever because... hell if I know, he really does come off as some sort of edgy self-insert... anyway, this ends with the full Multiverse being restored... again.
Dark Crisis (2022): ...well, we'll just see, won't we.

If Barry peaced out 3 days after coming back only to never be seen again except in blurry pictures of toast then these panels probably wouldn't exist.

Thanks man, that took me down such a rabbit hole of decades worth of comic lore. Doomsday Clock and the Watchmen stuff is what lead to Rebirth right, which is like New 52 only good, from what I've heard by others?
